Lena Dunham is busy promoting the final season of her acclaimed HBO series Girls, and in an interview with Howard Stern on Monday took some time to praise one of her former interns on the show - Malia Obama.

'She's an angel,' said Dunham, who up until that point had never officially acknowledged the fact that the former first daughter worked on set.

When asked how she wound up working as an intern for the show, Dunham said: 'She was interested and she was interning at HBO and they thought what if she comes a couple days a week to the set of girls.'

She went on to say that because she was just 16 at the time time there were limits to what Malia could do on set, and what she could see.

'We couldn't do graphic sex scenes around her,' said Jenni Konner, the executive producer of the show who was interviewed alongside Dunham on Monday.

Konner also echoed Dunham's praise of Malia, saying: 'She is such a delight and you cannot believe how poised and incredible she is.'

Malia seems to still be fond of the cast and crew of Girls as well, having attended the season six premiere party last week in New York City.

She is back in the Big Apple for her latest internship, working for Oscar-winning producer Harvey Weinstein.

And her love of film is very serious according to Dunham, who recounted a conversation the two had early into Malia's time on the set of Girls.

'She is so smart,' said Dunham.

'I once asked her, "What’s your favorite movie?" She was like, "Do you want me to list it by favorite, director, writer, or cinematographer." I was like, "You’re smarter than me, let’s just be done with this topic."'

Dunham also revealed that while they were not tasking Malia with fetching coffee, she was still 'enthusiastic'a bout doing any task required of her.

'We were sort of training her to be like what our writer's assistant did,' explained Konner.

There was a job where you sort of sit on the set, and we do a lot of improv so you take down the improv so we can get it in the next shots. We had one of our people who did that train her to do that.'

Dunham later took some time to also praise Malia's parents, Barack and Michelle Obama.

'She's done such a good job though and he parents have done such a good job,' said Dunham.

'They're such a, when you see that family together they're not performative. Like so many public families, even families of movie stars, are always performing their bond, and that family you can just tell they love each other and respect each other and have appropriate family reactions.'

Look flashy in a metallic skirt by Todd Oldham

Lenda Dunham channeled her inner super model as she attended the final premiere of her hit HBO show Girls.

The 30-year-old rocked a black top with metallic detailing that she matched with a scale like skirt and Jimmy Choo sandals.

Her look was straight out of a 90s catalog, and lo and behold we weren't far off.

Her ensemble is from Todd Oldham's fall 1996 collection, which means it's no longer up for grabs but you can click right to check out the classic collection.

Dunham and Konner also admitted in the interview that most of the time they didn't even know when Malia was on the set and could not identify members of her Secret Service,

'The weird thing about Secret Service is the way that the Secret Service dresses and looks is exactly like [assistant directors] and [personal assistants],' said Konner.

'Like they have the same headsets'

Dunham then told a story about one run-in she had with one of the members.

'The cool thing is we wouldn't know the Secret Service was there, and one day I went out of Jenni and my office to use our bathroom and there was a guy outside and he just was like "no,"' said Dunham.

'And I was like, "What, that's my bathroom." And he was just like, "No."

'And I guess Malia was in the bathroom and I was like, "I know her, it's fine. Im just gonna go in there and pee."'

Dunham then said she quickly realized they could not let anyone pee with the president's daughter.

'I could very well be a psycho,' said Dunham.

'But we tried not to be psychos.'

Another Girls star, Andrew Rannells, said the same thing while appearing on Watch What Happens Live last week.

'Actually, I have to say that Secret Service was so stealth that it took awhile to figure out like where she was at any time,' said Rannells.

'They really did blend in very sort of seamlessly.'

And Dunham said that she would have no problem at all hiring Barron Trump if he eve wanted to work on one of her projects.

'Honestly, Jenni and I are very against, we would never do any Barron shaming,' said Dunham when asked if they would hire President Trump's son.

'And it remains to be seen. Barron may be a wild Planned Parent advocate and he and I may join forces in the future. You never know.'

She later added: 'What if Barron Trump interns for our feminist newsletter?'
