UPDATED Daniel Miller, 45, became stuck after his three tonne excavator rolled in Charlotte Bay, NSW, following heavy rain on Wednesday. He spent two hours with only his face above the muddy water before a neighbour, who was 500 metres away, miraculously heard his cries for help. Mr Miller was able to arch his back and lift his nose out of the water, allowing him to breathe as he anxiously waited for authorities. Water was pumped out of the dam by fire crews before he was pulled free. Mr Miller was taken to John Hunter Hospital via helicopter suffering hypothermia and back injuries.
