Nikki Reed posted an Instagram photo on Tuesday of herself cozying up to her husband Ian Somerhalder and his ex Nina Dobrev.

The used-to-be couple have been in Atlanta filming the series finale of The Vampire Diaries, and there's been speculation of a feud between Dobrev and Reed.

In her caption, Reed furiously denounced the chatter, saying: 'For the last few years we thought addressing any baseless rumors with silence was the best way.'

Yet she discovered 'silence was taken as an opportunity to fill in the blanks with even more falsities, and juicer stories, and we, yes WE, believe we have a moral responsibility to young girls to end that narrative, because at the end of all of this, those young girls are the ones who lose.'

In Reed's words: 'Their passion and endless devotion for a tv show is being taken advantage of, replaced with feelings of anger through divisive techniques, & even worse, their minds are being shaped & molded as their view of themselves, other girls, & what those dynamics should look like are being formed.'

She insisted that 'teaching girls that you have to hate other girls only breeds a generation of women who believe you have to hate other women. And that's what these magazines, websites and blogs don't understand.'

Bewailing 'this trend of writing horrible headlines about women, painting us as bitter, angry, insecure, heartbroken, childless, feuding, backstabbing monsters,' she argued 'it changes the way all women view themselves.' 

She accused 'these websites' of 'instilling this at an earlier age when girls are even more susceptible, more vulnerable and more malleable. When we write these headlines we teach hate. I've seen it firsthand.'

Reed closed out: 'Let's shift what we put into the universe starting now, & hopefully we will start to see a shift in the way we treat each other & view ourselves.'

Dobrev and Somerhalder, who've both co-starred on The Vampire Diaries starting in 2009, dated from 2010 until 2013, the year before he began dating Reed.

The 38-year-old actor and 28-year-old actress ultimately tied the knot in California during April of 2015, beginning his first marriage and her second.

Dobrev had uploaded a selfie of her own in which she stuck out her tongue while flanked by her erstwhile boyfriend and his current wife.

'Can't believe how time flies,' she captioned. 'Farewell dinner with team Somereed! So good catching up with these goofballs. All,' she wrote, adding a heart emoji.

The Vampire Diaries began in 2009, and Dobrev left the show after the sixth season in 2015, though she did voice work for the seventh season finale last year.

Only last month did news go public that she'd be appearing in the series finale, which'll cap off the eight season on The CW.
