Meet Ester, a Hazardous Area Response Paramedic and one of the faces of our new campaign to help people understand what actually happens when you call 999. Ester works as a specially trained paramedics called the Hazard Area Response Team (HART). In her work for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) she is trained to enter the dangerous 'inner cordon' of an emergency; out of bounds to many of her colleagues. Gosport,Hampsihre Wednesday 19th October 2016 A Royal Mail sorting office has been closed after a cleaning product spill from a package. Five engines from Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service, two ambulances and police were called to the building on Mill Road, Gosport at 11.20am. The Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) from South Central Ambulance Service were also sent to the scene following reports that workers at the sorting office had found a package containing a bottle containing approximately 500ml of an unidentified liquid. The liquid inside the bottle then spilt on the floor causing nausea, headaches and eye pain/itchiness to workers. On October 15, 1995, a full-stage, multi-agency exercise was conducted to test the response and communications capabilities of local and area emergency services. The dramatized incident was a multi-vehicle hazardous materials accident, involving numerous injuries, casualties, and entrapment. "Actors" from the KY 51st AFJROTC portrayed victims of the incident.
