This jailbird is free! Orange Is The New Black star Jackie Cruz trades in her bulky prison uniform for a flirty bikini in Miami

Jackie Cruz often hides her curves in a bulky prison uniform to star as Flaca on the TV series Orange Is The New Black.

So there has been little way to tell if the 30-year-old New York native is pin-up material.

The actress proved on Sunday she most certainly is as she stripped down to a bikini while enjoying the surf in Miami.

Cruz looked toned as she frolicked on the shore.

The 5ft10in star looked to be all legs as she modeled a mismatched bikini.

Her top was most unusual with a pink and blue panel halter top design that also included sheer material and some leopard print.

Cruz impressively had her hair nicely styled wit braids on top, Swedish style. And the looker wore flattering makeup for the afternoon beach romp.

In 2015 she told Teen Vogue about her difficult teen years.

'It was insane. I mean, I moved from the Dominican Republic to Los Angeles when I was 15. I left my family and it was my first time just living with my mom. We moved there for me to be an actor and a singer, and a lot of parents don't do that. She had me at a very young age, so I was raised by her sisters.

'And every summer, I would come to New York and live with with my Aunt Diane and Uncle Peter and their Italian family in Rome, New York.

'That's why my English is legit [laughs]. It was hard because I didn't have any friends and I left my family, but I just wanted to follow my dream. I had been so focused on my career since I was 7, that I kind of felt like I missed my childhood a little bit."

The stunning brunette added: 'I was always in saxophone lessons, vocal lessons, dance lessons, and I was just a hermit. I met these cool girls in high school — now I know they're not so cool, but then I became this little rebel and I moved out at 16.'

She then suffered tragedy.

'I had a very tragic car accident at 17. I lost my hair, I couldn't see, I was paralyzed. I was like, okay, I'm not going to make it. There's no freaking way. And if I didn't have the strength of my mother and a little girl that was actually paralyzed from the neck down and was looking at me and smiling at me and happy to be alive...

'She wanted to be an artist, I'm like, Okay, I'm so silly caring about my hair. It's gonna grow out. So that really changed me.

'She saw strength in me that I didn't see in myself which was very powerful. I'm very lucky to be alive. So after that, and my mom was like, "You need to make it even more because your story is super inspirational now. You weren't supposed to be here. So if you still have that desire to be a singer and an actor, you have to follow it."'
