Their split reportedly left the pint-sized entertainer completely heartbroken.

And the lengths to which Kylie Minogue, 48, had fallen in love with her now ex-fiance Joshua Sasse has finally been revealed by a family friend.

Talking to Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O on their KIIS FM radio show on Monday, Peter Ford claimed the pop star had paid some $10,000 for Sasse to have hair implants.

'She's given him everything. Which is fine to do in a relationship, and she was happy to do that,' Ford told the radio hosts.

'It wasn't like he was trying to force money out of her. She really wanted this one to work. 

'She paid for his hair extensions. He got the plugs put in. That's the ultimate sign of love and dedication and she's been rewarded like this.'

News of Minogue and Sasse's split came almost exactly one year after the pair had announced their engagement.

The singer and former Neighbours star began dating the 29-year-old in November last year and was said to be deeply smitten with her beau.

However Ford told Kyle and Jackie O their breakup was being 'celebrated' by Kylie's loved ones, who thought he was 'bad news' and a 'bulls**t artist'.

'They're celebrating! They're thrilled! He was bad news,' the veteran entertainment reporter said

Ford revealed Kylie's younger sister Dannii in particular was not a fan of the British actor.

'Relief is the word. They always had concerns. Dannii is like a sniffer dog. She can suss out a bulls**t artist anywhere and she did not like him,' Peter said. 

The couple's engagement is said to have ended over rumours that Joshua had gotten close to actress Marta Milan.

While Peter admitted Kylie saw the Spanish star as a 'concern' he doesn't believe that Joshua cheated and revealed that Kylie and Joshua in fact split before Christmas.

'I don't think so. That was part of her concerns, but it's been off for a while. It's been off since before Christmas. He's had to go home to live with mum and dad,' he said. 

Peter believes that Kylie's split was a small mercy as a divorce between the pair down the line would have been 'messy'. 

He told Kyle and Jackie, 'Thank god this didn't end up in a marriage. It would have been much messier and nastier.'
