'We're all good at things we shouldn't be': Zayn Malik SLAMS critics after trolls urged him to quit music over ongoing anxiety issues

His anxiety issues have seen him struggle to take to the stage as a solo artist.

And because of his personal battle, Zayn Malik has been left open to harsh criticism that he should quit music altogether.

But despite his sporadic stage appearances, the former One Direction star has managed to wow fans with his music, especially his latest acoustic of new track I Don't Wanna Live Forever.

The singer took to Twitter to lay down the law to his haters on Sunday, hitting home that he was very much here to stay.

He wrote: 'I recall someone saying to me a while back music wasn't my thing and maybe I should try something else..

'I guess we're all good at doing things we shouldn't...' 

This comes after the star sent fans into a frenzy on Friday with the stripped-back version of the song, a duet with Taylor Swift.

To rev up anticipation, Zayn treated his fans to a special acoustic version of the tune, posting a video on his social media on Friday.

There's no sign of Taylor on the track or in the black and white video as Zayn sings his heart out in the recording studio. 

Fans were delighted with the surprise, with many praising their idol for his 'beautiful' voice.

'Are you actually trying to kill me?' One overexcited fan asked the star. 'This acoustic is like angels singing,' gushed another.

'I feel like I lost the love of my life when I listen to IDWLF Acoustic,' was another enthusiastic response.

The stripped-back track release comes days after the highly-anticipated video for his and Taylor Swift's hit song debuted online. 

In the passionate video, directed by Grant Singer, they traverse the St Pancras Renaissance London hotel before entering and smashing up one of its posh rooms.

One of the signature masks from Fifty Shades' adverts hangs from the front door of a hotel room occupied by Zayn, which Taylor enters and pours champagne before plucking white rose petals.

Then, the trashing begins: a plugged-in lamp pulled from its socket and hurled to the floor, mirrors smashed, pillows flung, various objects chucked hither and thither.

Released in December, the single was co-written by Taylor alongside Lena Dunham's boyfriend Jack Antonoff and LoveHate Thing scribe Sam Dew.
