Shane Warne launches Australian speaking tour to reveal the “truth”

HE doesn’t have political ambitions, but spin king Shane Warne says if he was Prime Minister his top priority would be US President Donald Trump.

“First of all I’d probably ring Donald Trump — if he doesn’t hang up on me — and I’d say: ‘Mate, I can fix that hair straight away.’ That’s the No. 1 thing I would do. Fix his hair.”

Those comments came as Warne, an Advanced Hair ambassador, announced a run of theatre shows, Warney Uncut, at Hamer Hall on May 11 and 12.

Before his media call, Twitter buzzed with speculation Warne might be taking a tilt at politics. He denied this.

Instead, Warne is promising an “intimate evening” to share “the whole truth and nothing but the truth” about his life, on and off the field.

“You’re gonna get me no holds barred. The whole truth,” Warne said. “Some of it is gonna be tough to talk about because it was my fault. And it will be emotional at times. But you’re gonna get the full me.”

The show, in the spirit of recent speaking tours by Michael Parkinson and David Attenborough, will include an audience Q & A.

Warne said he was spurred into action by a glut of unauthorised biographies and a planned telemovie. “There is only one person who knows the truth ... and that’s me. This is my opportunity to set the record straight on everything,” he said.

Asked which demographic Warney Uncut might appeal to, his manager James Erskine said: “I think Shane straddles everybody in Australia.”

A grinning Warne interjected: “Just be careful of the wording there, James”

Tickets go on sale on Friday.
