Here we go again: More than fifty years after her glory days as a fashion ingénue for the likes of Vogue and The Tatler, it was a visibly jaded Twiggy who recalled the well documented moment she was plucked from obscurity on Tuesday morning
‘Somebody saw me who had a friend who worked on a magazine,’ she explained. ‘And they sent me to have my hair done – that was the famous haircut, you know. It’s been written so many times, I’m so bored of telling it.’
Twiggy, real name Lesley Lawson, added that her immediate success was owed in part to the shifting cultural changed that took place throughout the nineteen-sixties.
‘In my day I would not have put myself up to be a model because working class girls didn’t become models,’ she explained.
