AMY and Tyson Murr have silenced their critics with a record-breaking win on My Kitchen Rules tonight- but did that passionate kiss between Bek Outred and Kyle McLean steal their thunder?

The siblings scored a whopping 102 out of 110 for a potentially stomach-churning menu featuring lamb brains and pork jowl at their Mosaic instant restaurant and their bravery was rewarded by the judges and their surprised rivals.

While the cooking was quirky and controversial, that heavily-promoted kiss between Bek Outred and Kyle McLean finally happened — and how — almost stealing focus from the record-breaking action in the kitchen.

Tyson told News Corp Australia he felt vindicated after being labelled arrogant for his criticism of other teams in earlier instant restaurant rounds.

“It shows I’m not full of shit,” as his final score was revealed, including Pete Evans’ first-ever set of three perfect tens.

Hitting a lot of paleo-preferred marks, the Murrs plated up an entree of lambs brains with cauliflower puree, Sriracha aioli and pickles.

“I know that it is a confronting menu,” Tyson said. “They might look at it and feel squeamish.”

Contestant Amy Brannan turned pale when she read the menu, leading Amy to wonder whether the Perth dental nurse would vomit.

Evans had no such qualms, calling the entree “bang on”.

“It was sensational — I loved it,” Evans said. “The brains were lovely and creamy with a beautiful crust on the outside.”

Amy and Tyson plated up a main of pork jowl with eggplant puree, pumpkin puree, pomme frites and apple cider sauce.

They were convinced they had delivered a below-average dish after the deep fryer played up and left their pomme frites without enough crunch.

Some of the pork jowl also looked burnt.

That led Tyson, who has been promoted as the competition’s “angry angry man,” to temporarily lose his cool.

“If I wasn’t doing this pork jowl I’d be punching a wall,” Tyson said.

“Watching the judges eat our main course, I feel like I need to apologise. It’s not a good dish. I’m not happy with what we presented.”

But the pair need not have worried.

Judge Manu Feildel said he didn’t find the look of the dish inviting but couldn’t fault the taste.

“The flavour of it is out of this world,” Feildel said. “The pork jowl was rich, sticky, crispy, caramelised on the outside — yum, yum, yum.”

Evans was even more enthusiastic, saying “I thought your entree was bang on but this is better.”

But the episode wasn’t all about the food.

The long-simmering flirtation between Bek and Kyle was finally sealed with a kiss — another first in My Kitchen Rules’ history.

Egged on by their fellow contestants around the table, the pair locked lips knowing that Bek’s time on the show could almost be over after their horror cook on Sunday night.

“You make a lovely couple,” midwife Karen said as she looked on.

“If we could have the privilege of delivering your babies.”

Returning to the food, Amy and Tyson’s dessert had the mysterious title of Chocolate Raspberry Discovery which had all the contestants guessing, but turned out to be a complex mix of raspberry coulis, marshmallow, meringue, fresh raspberries, pretzel crumbs, sorbet, chocolate ice cream, chocolate shavings and sponge cake.

“There is a beautiful balance of sweetness and acidity — all different textures, and so many different techniques.”

The rival teams gave Amy and Tyson a score of 43 out of 50 — one less than Tim and Kyle received the previous night.

But Evans and Feildel’s scores gave the siblings a new record — Evans with 30 out of 30 and Feildel with 29 out of 30.

At the end of the episode a new elimination twist was revealed, with the two lowest scoring teams — Bek and Ash and David and Betty — going into a sudden death cook-off.
