Oh, baby! A bub weighing more than six kilograms has been born in a Queensland hospital.

He's the biggest baby on the hospital's records and 2.6kg above the national average.

"It was very exhausting, so I'm glad to have him out," mother Nicole told the Nine Network.

"I had a feeling he was going to be a big boy - didn't realise that big."

She said Jake was a "gorgeous big boy", if not a little heavy to carry around.

Jake joins siblings Brodie, 9, Ella, 7, and Ruby, 3 - two of whom were 11 pounds (4.9kg) at birth.
