Say more without words
When sending the perfect online holiday card, the content of your message is just as important as the design it comes in, and what better way to spread instant holiday cheer than through the right GIF?
Yahoo Mail’s got you covered in this department with our carefully curated GIFs, courtesy of Tumblr. When you’re composing your message, simply click on the attachment icon and choose “insert animated GIFs.” From there, search by keyword or browse categories like “Love” or “Cheers,” tap on the GIF you like best, and instantly add it to your message.
Finally, don’t forget to add the perfect personal touch
Chances are you don’t get to see all of your friends and family on a regular basis, so the holiday card is the perfect time to send them recent photos of yourself that they’ll cherish all year long.
With Yahoo Mail, images are incredibly easy to add directly into your email. On mobile, just click the (+) in the bottom right hand corner and add your photo in line.
Now that you know how to craft the perfect online holiday card, go forth and brighten someone’s inbox.
Have you ever longed for an easier way to compose an email without having to open your Yahoo Mail app? Or wanted the ability to quickly share someone’s contact info? With the latest updates to Yahoo Mail for Android, we’re bringing you these features and more.
Available on Android Nougat 7.1 and above:
App shortcuts: Long press on the Yahoo Mail icon on your homescreen to complete several actions, including compose a new message, set a reminder for yourself and search your inbox, without opening the app. You can also easily create shortcut widgets that live on your homescreen for easy access to these actions.
Add images directly from the keyboard: In addition to the built-in attachment and GIF chooser, now you can add GIFs and stickers to emails directly from the latest Google Keyboard. Simply press the “smiley” button on the keyboard, click “GIF” and choose your favorite. Note: Android Nougat 7.1 or later is required.
Round icon support: Our latest Android update also supports devices that display round icons by default. So for example if you’re using a Google Pixel, the Yahoo Mail icon will be beautifully round, rather than the “oh-so last week” square.
Available on Android KitKat and above:
Share contact cards: Want to quickly share someone’s contact information? Just go to the contact card, and at the top choose “Share” to share the contact as a Card attachment via any app you’d like, or “Copy to clipboard” to then paste it anywhere. If you prefer to copy just a single email address or phone number, simply long-press that bit of information.
These new features are available today so be sure to update your Yahoo Mail app in the Play Store (version 5.11). As always, we’d love to hear your feedback – just go to Settings and tap “Send Feedback.”
If you have more than one email account, keeping all of your contacts in one place can be challenging. Starting today, Yahoo Mail on desktop can import contacts from hundreds of email providers, including Comcast, iCloud, AOL and Mail.ru. Previously, we supported importing from Facebook, Gmail and Outlook, or even your second Yahoo account. Managing your contacts has never been easier!
A richer search and compose experience
Now import your contacts to move all contact information directly to Yahoo Mail from another email account. So the next time you search for friends whom you often email from a different account, Yahoo Mail will auto-fill their contact details. Or when you type their name in the compose window, Yahoo Mail will auto-suggest their contact card.
To import contacts from your other email accounts, simply go to the contacts tab in Yahoo Mail, click ‘Import contacts’ and select ‘Another email address.’ Once you provide the credentials for the other account, Yahoo Mail will automatically upload your contacts’ email addresses and phone numbers copying them into your Yahoo Mail address book.
A contact card that’s faster to find
We’ll also surface their contact information in a contact card in the upper right hand of your screen when you open an email. This will make it easy to quickly see someone’s phone number or search for emails from only that sender.
Enjoy this update on desktop today, courtesy of our partnership with ShuttleCloud! And to send us feedback – just go to ‘Settings’ and click ‘Send Feedback’.
We know that each Yahoo Mail user is an individual, so we’re excited to announce new features for iOS, Android and desktop that allow you to have a more personalized inbox experience.
Check out what’s new, and start enjoying a better Mail experience today.
Notifications for emails you want to see: Wading through all the emails you receive, from businesses to friends, to get to those from the people you care about most can be difficult. And up until now, you only had the option to receive email notifications for everyone (or no-one). Starting today, you can turn on people-only notifications on iOS, Android and desktop so important emails from friends and family don’t get buried in your inbox. Now, you’ll only get homescreen notifications for emails from people, not for promotions or newsletters.
To enable on iOS and Android, go to settings, tap notifications, and enable the option for just people. To do the same on desktop, go to settings, tap viewing email, and enable desktop notifications for emails from people.
Quick actions: Last week, we announced the ability to take more action, right from your homescreen, on the Android app. Now iOS users can enjoy some of the same updates. Customize your notification swipe actions so you can delete, star, archive and more right from the notifications on your homescreen
Email preview (iOS only): We heard from many of you that you wanted control over how much of an email you see when you receive a push notification. Now, you can set your notifications to show you the full email or adjust it so you only see the first few lines. To disable email preview, go to your settings, tap notifications, then under notification options disable “show previews.”
The new features are available for iOS (iOS version 4.9) and Android (Android version 5.10) today. Be sure to update your Yahoo Mail app to check them out, and as always, we’d love to hear your feedback – just go to Settings and tap “Send Feedback.”
Regularly updating your Yahoo Mail app is incredibly important, so you can enjoy the latest and greatest features we release – we launched iOS10 support a few weeks ago and Android Nougat updates last week. We’re regularly rolling out improvements that you don’t want to miss, and most importantly, we’re constantly improving performance and stability. If your app stops suddenly or seems slow, most likely there’s already a newer version available for download that has a fix for you.

Last week, we temporarily disabled the ability to add new automatic forwarding in Yahoo Mail. As of today, auto-forward is enabled again for all Mail users. We apologize for the interruption.
Why the pause? Over the past year, Yahoo Mail has been upgrading its platform. This has allowed us to bring a better search experience to Yahoo Mail, add multiple account support, and improve performance as we quickly scale this new system globally. The feature was temporarily disabled as part of this process.
While mail forwarding is one way to access all your emails from any provider in one place, we recommend connecting your Yahoo inbox to your preferred email client or provider directly.
We know that keeping track of sign in details for various online accounts can be a pain. That’s exactly why last year we introduced a solution that brings you one step closer to a password-free future: Yahoo Account Key.
Account Key gives you an easy way to sign in so that you never have to remember the password to your Yahoo accounts again. Once you sign up, Account Key uses notifications to bring you a quick, simple way to access your accounts from your mobile device. It’s also more secure than a traditional password!
Here are some tips for using Yahoo Account Key to enjoy password-free bliss:
Take advantageof password-free sign in across multiple apps: Account Key is available for Yahoo Mail, and also for apps including Yahoo Finance, Fantasy, Messenger and Sports for iOS and Android.
Use Account Keyanywhere, anytime you have internet: Traveling abroad? As long as you have an internet connection, you can access your account with Account Key.
Set up “Do Not Disturb”: Control the devices or apps that receive Account Key notifications. For example, if you have an iPad on the kitchen table, you can turn off sign in notifications on that device so you don’t disturb your kids while doing their homework.

The latest Yahoo Mail update, available for download today, is now fully compatible with iOS 10 and takes advantage of the new operating system to bring you some fresh new features.
Rich Notifications
No need to launch the app to respond to an email. Now when you receive a notification, you can respond directly from your lock-screen, without having to open the app—just delete or mark as read. You can also now expand the preview of your email with a force touch on the notification.
Spotlight Search
If you’re searching for something in Apple’s Spotlight search, now you’ll be able to continue your search directly within the Yahoo Mail App. Just tap the new “Search in App” button to see more results.
In order to get these new features today, first make sure your Apple device is updated to the latest iOS 10. Then update your Yahoo Mail iOS app to Mail 4.7. Note, with this update we will no longer support iOS 8.
Not sure how to update your app? We’ll give you the rundown in next week’s Tips for Tuesday blog post! Stay tuned.
