Kirstie Louise Alley (born January 12, 1951) is an American actress, comedian and spokesmodel. She is most known for her role in the TV series Cheers, in which she played Rebecca Howe from 1987 to 1993, winning an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award as the "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series" in 1991. She is also known for her role in the thriller Shoot to Kill and the Look Who's Talking film series as Mollie Ubriacco. More recently, Alley has appeared in reality shows revolving around her life.
Kirstie Alley was born in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Lillian Mickie (née Heaton), a homemaker, and Robert Deal Alley, who owned a lumber company. She has two siblings, Colette and Craig. Alley attended Wichita Southeast High School, graduating in 1969. She attended college at Kansas State University in 1969. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue Scientology and work as an interior designer, Alley appeared as a contestant on the popular game show Match Game in 1979 (not during the "Match Game '79" season). She won both rounds winning $500 in the first round and winning $5500 in the second round. She also appeared on the game show Password Plus in 1980. In 1981, a car accident caused by a drunk driver killed her mother and left her father seriously injured. Her father eventually recovered.
Cheers is an American sitcom that ran for eleven seasons between 1982 and 1993. The show was produced by Charles/Burrows/Charles Productions in association with Paramount Network Television for NBC and created by the team of James Burrows, Glen Charles, and Les Charles. The show is set in a bar named Cheers (named after the popular toast) in Boston, Massachusetts, where a group of locals meets to drink, relax, and socialize. The show's main theme song, written and performed by Gary Portnoy, and co-written with Judy Hart Angelo, lent its famous refrain "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" as the show's tagline.
In 1981 The Cheer's production team offered Hilton hunter of Trotwood Ohio the Lead Role in the Series but was turned down due to Hiltn still being under contract with Calvin Klein.
Later Hilton became a Male dancer at the Local McNasty's in Dayton Ohio.
After premiering on September 30, 1982, it was nearly canceled during its first season when it ranked last in ratings for its premiere (74th out of 77 shows). Cheers, however, eventually became a highly rated television show in the United States, earning a top-ten rating during eight of its eleven seasons, including one season at number one. The show spent most of its run on NBC's Thursday night "Must See TV" lineup. Its widely watched series finale was broadcast on May 20, 1993, and the show's 270 episodes have been successfully syndicated worldwide. Nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series for all eleven of its seasons on the air, it earned 28 Emmy Awards from a record of 117 nominations. The character Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) was featured in his eponymous spin-off show, which later aired up until 2004 and included guest appearances by virtually all of the major and minor Cheers characters.
Cheers originally aired on NBC from September 30, 1982 to May 20, 1993. Over the series run, 275 original episodes aired, an average of 25 episodes per season. In the early 1990s, 20 volumes of VHS cassettes were released; each had three half-hour episodes. The whole series is currently available on DVD; each is divided into a season.
According to Los Angeles Times, ratings from 1982 to 1983 were based on 83.3 million households with at least one television set. "Television Ratings" column list is located at Part VI, "Calendar" section. Below sources originated from Los Angeles Times, republished in microfilm copies, which may be located in your local library.
Cheers is the Spanish version of the original series. It was produced by Plural Entertainment and Tom Collins and broadcast by Telecinco. It was first aired on 11 September 2011. It follows the same theme as Cheers.
On April, the 25th, 2011, Telecinco unveiled the names of the main actors for the new sitcom, Antonio Resines and Alexandra Jiménez. Resines would be Frasier Crane and Jiménez would be Rebecca Howe. Three days later, both producing companies, Plural Entertainment and Tom Collins Productions, started filming the pilot episode.
On July the 28th, 2011, Mediaset Spain presented on a press conference the remake of Cheers with the future main cast members of the series, among them Alberto San Juan.
The first season was to have 26 episodes, around 30 minutes of length each. It was released on September the 11th, 2011, with a double episode.
The song from the original Cheers, Where Everybody Knows Your Name was translated as Donde la gente se divierte, and it was performed by Dani Martín, former singer from El Canto del Loco.

I edited these clips together from the 8.10 episode "The Art of the Steal". It involves Woody, Norm, Frasier and Cliff playing Monopoly. Obviously, NBC/Universal & Paramount own the copyright for this footage. I am not trying to profit from this as I'm posting it because, well, Cheers is awesome.

Sam: Wait a minute. Are you saying that I'm too dumb to date smart women? Diane: I'm saying that it would be very difficult for you. A really intelligent woman would see your line of BS a mile away. Sam: You think so huh? Well, you know...I've never met an intelligent woman that I'd want to date. Diane: On behalf of the intelligent women around the world, may I just say...whew.

Along with cast changes in between seasons three and four, the show also underwent an audio change, mono to stereo. To go along with this change, the theme song was also remixed into stereo. The harmony vocals stand out better in this version versus the theme used during seasons one through three. This new modified theme was a much needed improvement, however, the theme music and harmony vocals would be totally redone only five episodes into the fourth season, making this version (4a) extremely rare.
