Bronzed Gareth Gates cuddles up to glamorous girlfriend Faye Brookes as they enjoy a cosy date night

He suffered an embarrassing fake tan fail at the National Television Awards last month. 

But Gareth Gates had toned down the bronzer to sport more of a natural glow as he joined glamorous girlfriend Faye Brooks for a night out in London on Sunday. 

Beaming broadly, the former Pop Idol star, 32, seemed in great spirits as he snuggled up to his sweetheart on the outing.

It was no wonder Gareth wanted to be close to Faye as she looked sensational in a pair of cropped leather look trousers. 

The Coronation Street actress, 29, teamed the garment with a plunging black vest that showed off her cleavage, whilst she layered up with a faux fur coat. 

She finished off the look by styling her glossy locks in a chic chignon bun.

Their outing came after they proudly walked the red carpet together at the National Television Awards. 

Whilst Gareth may have been there to support Corrie star Faye - who won the Best Newcomer award - he inadvertently stole the attention by suffering from a spectacular fake tan fail.

He was able to see the funny side, however, sharing a video after the event where he quipped that Faye had to invest in 'scouring pads and acid peel' to get his skin tone back to normal.

The clip saw Faye approaching Gareth about his 'lovely terracotta tan' - holding up an image of the colour beside his face, which proved to be a close match. 

Erupting into giggles, Gareth then responds by claiming sarcastically: 'I don't know what they're talking about, it looks nothing like me! I'd say I'm more mahogany.'

Rolling his eyes, the Bradford lad explained to his followers: 'I know, I know, I wore a bit too much tan. I had a few too many sunbeds...'

Faye then chipped in by assuring followers seriously that the pair had had 'words' and that the 'situation had been dealt with!'
