Kia’s big new 2015 Sorento has been spied testing frequently in recent weeks, but, so far, heavy camouflage has obscured the SUV’s finer details.
TMR’s earlier spy photos reveal however that the new Sorento will share styling cues with the large Quoris sedan and the new Carnival people-mover.
A pair of new renderings, published today on enthusiast site Kia-World, offers a new look at what we could see when the new Sorento is revealed in September.
Rendered to look like streamlined teaser sketches, the images preview a powerfully replacement for the current third-generation Sorento.
Large Opel OPC-style wheels fill the guards of these sketches, although we can certainly expect those to be replaced with something closer to 18 inches.
The renderings also borrow elements from the new Carnival, including the long headlights, large upright grille and rectangular tail-lights.
The new Sorento is expected to be a few centimetres longer than the current model, and its 2700mm wheelbase is also expected to grow.
A more spacious cabin is expected, along with more premium materials and new convenience- and driving-focused technologies.
A hybrid version is also expected to hit showrooms in other markets, although an Australian debut of this variant is not expected.
It's too soon to speculate on local powertrains, but expect a version of the current Sorento's 2.2 litre R-series turbo diesel to continue.
