Mischa Barton steps out looking happy and healthy in LA as she sports statement varsity jacket...following her shocking 'meltdown'

She was seen for the first time this week after she was hospitalised for erratic behaviour last month.

And now, Mischa Barton has stepped out looking happy and healthy as she was spotted in West Hollywood on Saturday night.

The 31-year-old actress - who told reporters this week she was 'feeling better' - appeared relaxed as she enjoyed an evening out in Los Angeles in an all black look.

Wrapping up for the evening, she donned an eighties inspired leather sports jacket, equipped with several eye-catching patches throughout.

The former O.C. star added another layer of texture to her ensemble as she worked a pair of velvet dungarees which accentuated her slender frame alongside her chic turtleneck.

Sauntering to her destination, she slipped on a pair of distressed lace-up ankle boots while her golden locks tousled in the Californian breeze under her red, white and navy twisted headband.

Her glowing appearance comes after she took to Twitter earlier this week to thank her fans for their support after she was hospitalised.

The Hollywood starlet claimed she was slipped date-rape drug GHB while celebrating her 31st birthday, which subsequently caused the yelling outburst, which was caught on tape by a neighbour.

GHB, which is often referred to as a date-rape drug, has been known to be slipped in alcoholic drinks, typically to incapacitate victims of rape or sexual assault.

Taking to her account, she wrote: 'Thank you so much for all the love guys. It means the world to me. There is too much going on in the world so I appreciate this more than ever. From the bottom of my heart. We shall over come.'

TMZ reported the actress was taken to the hospital last month after neighbors found her screaming that her mother was a witch, as well as rambling about the 'world shattering', and Ziggy Stardust - which is one of her dog's names.

Barton told People that she went out with a group of friends on the evening of the 25th January.

'While having drinks, I realized that something was not right as my behavior was becoming erratic and continued to intensify over the next several hours,' the actress said.

'I voluntarily went to get professional help, and I was informed by their staff that I had been given GHB. After an overnight stay, I am home and doing well.'

Barton thanked the staff at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for their care.

'This is a lesson to all young women out there, be aware of your surroundings,' she added.

However, a source has now claimed to the site that Mischa was on a downward spiral for 'nearly a year' before checking into the hospital psych unit.

The site alleges that Mischa's neighbours claim she 'frequently' has loud crying and screaming fits, disturbing the peace.

Her next-door-neighbours are also reported to have complained about the star's loud parties and late night Netflix binges.

Law enforcement sources told the American website that Barton had been voluntarily taken to the hospital for a mental health check.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene after being alerted about a jumper or possible overdose. Barton was wearing just a dress shirt and tie at the time.

Not long afterwards, the Brit tweeted: 'Thank you all for all the birthday messages Xoxo'. The tweet seemed to have been deleted.
