Awning/covered patio, I walk you through how to set the posts in concrete using concrete anchors and post brackets. How to set the header and all the rafters. Then how to lay roofing paper, OSB decking, and Onduvilla roofing shingles. In part two I will deck the underside of the awning, add lights, and trim out the underside as well as the boxes.

We're back in the Open Door Boatshop and ready to begin shaping the piece of lumber we're hoping will make our breast hook for the work skiff we're building. Before we do that though we are going to make a slight adjustment to the shear line now that we have the lift rails on the boat. The breast hook is still rough within the notch we took out of the tree so we're going to flatten one side down with an electric plane. Then we can pass it through our shipsaw to get it flat on both sides before heading over to our steam bag contraption so we can cook the piece.

I built this hut in the bush using naturally occurring materials and primitive tools. The hut is 2m wide and 2m long, the side walls are 1m high and the ridge line (highest point) is 2m high giving a roof angle of 45 degrees. A bed was built inside and it takes up a little less than half the hut. The tools used were a stone hand axe to chop wood, fire sticks to make fire, a digging stick for digging and clay pots to carry water. The materials used in the hut were wood for the frame, vine and lawyer cane for lashings and mud for walls. Broad leaves were initially used as thatch which worked well for about four months before starting to rot. The roof was then covered with sheets of paper bark which proved to be a better roofing material (*peeling the outer layer of bark does not kill this species of tree). An external fireplace and chimney were also built to reduce smoke inside. The hut is a small yet comfortable shelter and provides room to store tools and materials out of the weather. The whole hut took 9 months from start to finish. But it only took 30 days of actual work (I abandoned it for a few months before adding bark roof, chimney and extra daub ).

How to build an awesome shed AND for less than you can buy them for, also this is way more solid, it's insulated, is the exact dimensions you want and you can put the doors and windows (if any) where you like.
My main shed where all the other stuff is filmed was built in the same way and has been up for 7 years with no problems at all, now i went a bit fancie on the slate roof but you only live once haha.
There are no drawings for this as you make it to the sizes you wish.

Building

Building the TotalBoat work skiff - Steaming (Episode 26)
We're back in the Open Door Boatshop and ready to begin shaping the piece of lumber we're hoping will make our breast hook for the work skiff we're building. Before we do that though we are going to make a slight adjustment to the shear line now that we have the lift rails on the boat. The breast hook is still rough within the notch we took out of the tree so we're going to flatten one side down with an electric plane. Then we can pass it through our shipsaw to get it flat on both sides before heading over to our steam bag contraption so we can cook the piece. Primitive Technology: Wattle and Daub Hut
I built this hut in the bush using naturally occurring materials and primitive tools. The hut is 2m wide and 2m long, the side walls are 1m high and the ridge line (highest point) is 2m high giving a roof angle of 45 degrees. A bed was built inside and it takes up a little less than half the hut. The tools used were a stone hand axe to chop wood, fire sticks to make fire, a digging stick for digging and clay pots to carry water. The materials used in the hut were wood for the frame, vine and lawyer cane for lashings and mud for walls. Broad leaves were initially used as thatch which worked well for about four months before starting to rot. The roof was then covered with sheets of paper bark which proved to be a better roofing material (*peeling the outer layer of bark does not kill this s...

How to build a really SOLID shed
How to build an awesome shed AND for less than you can buy them for, also this is way more solid, it's insulated, is the exact dimensions you want and you can put the doors and windows (if any) where you like. My main shed where all the other stuff is filmed was built in the same way and has been up for 7 years with no problems at all, now i went a bit fancie on the slate roof but you only live once haha. Then how to lay roofing paper, OSB decking, and Onduvilla roofing shingles. In part two I will deck the underside of the awning, add lights, and trim out the underside as well as the boxes.

An external fireplace and chimney were also built to reduce smoke inside. The hut is a small yet comfortable shelter and provides room to store tools and materials out of the weather. How to build an awesome shed AND for less than you can buy them for, also this is way more solid, it's insulated, is the exact dimensions you want and you can put the doors and windows (if any) where you like.
My main shed where all the other stuff is filmed was built in the same way and has been up for 7 years with no problems at all, now i went a bit fancie on the slate roof but you only live once haha.
There are no drawings for this as you make it to the sizes you wish.
Now i'm not a shed building channel so you should check out my other videos it all good.
