Gabriel Jesus could be Man City's new 'superstar'… but this may be beginning of the end for Sergio Aguero, claims Jamie Carragher and Niall Quinn

Manchester City match-winner Gabriel Jesus has the potential to become a 'superstar' in the Premier League, according to Jamie Carragher. 

The Brazilian teenager tapped in an injury-time winner as City snatched a 2-1 victory over plucky Swansea on Sunday. 

Jesus opened the scoring with a fine finish and Carragher has compared the 19-year-old to Premier League greats Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney, believing he has the ability to become a star in England.

Speaking on Sky Sports following the dramatic win, Carragher said: 'We're only two or three games in, but when you see a young player like that come from Brazil, you hope you've got a superstar in the Premier League. 

'It's very early days, but this kid looks special. I've played with Michael Owen as a teenager, Wayne Rooney, and you knew straight away as soon as you saw them. 

'It wasn't a case of see how they develop, you knew right away there was a special talent. 

'The fact he's keeping Sergio Aguero out of the team, possibly one of the greatest strikers of all-time in the Premier League, shows what Pep Guardiola's thinks of him. 

'I think what we've seen in the first two or three games, the Premier League have got a special talent.'

Jesus was handed his full home debut against the Swans to keep out Sergio Aguero for the second successive game after starring in the midweek win over West Ham.

Fellow Sky Sports pundit Niall Quinn suggested this 'could well be' the beginning of the end for Aguero, who has been in and out of the City first team this season. 

Speaking before the game, Quinn said: 'Could well be [the beginning of the end for Aguero]. Pep doesn't see superstars the way we see superstars. 

'He hasn't made an impact lately. I'd like to see him fight and put the young guys in their place, that would be a great response.'

After the match, the Sunderland legend added: 'It's very big goal, great for the lad, but for the club - terrific.

'He should score the header, but he got lucky and got a second chance... it was that sort of day for him. His hold-up play, linking up with others. 

'This time [David] Silva created for him. I just get the feeling the whole football club, from the owners down, will feel great about what they've unearthed in this lad.'

City had looked like they would have to settle for a point after the relegation-threatened Swans recovered from a first-half battering at the Etihad Stadium to equalise through Gylfi Sigurdsson on 81 minutes.

But Guardiola's men stepped up the pressure in the latter stages and Jesus, who had opened the scoring after 11 minutes, claimed his second of the game after Lukasz Fabianski saved his header.
