PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: Alicia Vikander springs into action with a series of slick stunts as she's seen for the first time as lithe heroine Lara Croft on the set of Tomb Raider reboot
She is taking on the role made famous by Angelina Jolie in the 2001 action film series Tomb Raider.
And Alicia Vikander is already proving herself to be an impressive Lara Croft, judging by the first pictures of the Swedish actress on the set of the rebooted version of the film.
Sporting a low cut khaki top and tight black trousers, the 28-year-old Swedish actress performed several stunts atop a wooden bar on the South African set of the film.

All action: Alicia Vikander sprung into action on the South African set of the Tomb Raider reboot
With her brown hair tied into Lara's trademark braid, the 28-year-old was held by a wire on the long plank which appeared to be suspended into the air.
She swung from the plank before crawling along it and attempting to climb on top of it with a determined expression on her face.
In fact, the star looked to be working up a sweat, showing off her toned arm muscles as she hung from the bar.

At one point, she cooled off using a bottle of water, splashing it over her chest.
The new film will revolve around a young Lara who goes on her first archaeological adventure to follow in her father's footsteps.
The Affair's Dominic West has signed on to play Lord Richard Croft in the latest film version of the popular video games.
Alicia is adamant that the latest reboot is very much more an origin story than the Angelina Jolie version.

'They told me they were doing the film based on the reboot of the game from 2013,' Alicia told website Hitfixx last year.
'That is more of an origin story. You get into an emotional aspect of getting to know Lara hopefully in an in-depth way.
'So I hope that doing a film of the rebooted game will bring something new and fresh that'll stand on its own two legs.'

The actress is familiar with the video game, having played it as a youngster.

'I was a bit scared playing it when I was 12, 13. I had to go take little breaks.'

Alicia's career has gone from strength to strength since more humble beginnings on Swedish television dramas.
The star, who is currently dating actor Michael Fassbender, won critical plaudits as Artificial intelligence Ava in Alex Garland's directorial debut Ex Machina back in 2015.
The same year, she starred as Gerda Wegener opposite Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl - a role which won her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
