'I'm here to promote my movie Twilight, which this week has been on iTunes for eight years,' Stewart began.
'I'm a little nervous to be hosting because I know the president is probably watching and I don't think he likes me that much. Here's how I know.'
She then recounted Trump's string of tweets in which he said Pattinson could 'do better' than Stewart and urged him several times to break up with her.
'Robert Pattinson should not take back Kristen Stewart. She cheated on him like a dog & will do it again--just watch. He can do much better!' Trump tweeted in October 2012, four years before being elected president.
Donald Trump (pictured left Saturday night) sent out a series of tweets in 2012 urging Robert Pattinson (right) to break up with Stewart. He even invited him to the Miss Universe pageant
'Everyone knows I am right that Robert Pattinson should dump Kristen Stewart. In a couple of years, he will thank me. Be smart, Robert,' he added in another message.
'I know what you're thinking,' Stewart said in her monologue Saturday. 'That's so crazy, the president tweeted about you once. No no - the president tweeted about me 11 times.'
The crowd laughed as Stewart quoted yet another of the billionaire's tweets.
Trump at one point addressed Pattinson directly in one of his messages , writing: 'Robert I'm getting a lot of heat for saying you should dump Kristen- but I'm right. If you saw the Miss Universe girls you would reconsider.'
Stewart (pictured during her opening monologue) offered up her own interpretation of Trump's invitation to Pattinson, joking: 'I think he's in love with my boyfriend'
The mogul even invited Pattinson to the Miss Universe pageant. He owned the franchise at the time.
'Miss Universe 2012 Pageant will be airing live on @nbc & @Telemundo december 19th. Open invite stands for Robert Pattinson,' Trump wrote.
'So to be fair,' Steward said Saturday, 'I don't think Donald Trump hated me. I think he's in love with my boyfriend.'
She then said the president was 'not a huge fan' of her.
So yeah thats crazy the pres is not a huge fan of me
'But that is so OK,' she said, 'and Donald - if you didn't like me then, you're really probably not gonna like me now because I'm hosting SNL and I'm, like, so gay, dude.'
The crowd cheered and clapped as Steward ended her monologue, joined by comediennes Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant.
At one point, she tried to reassure them that she 'totally cared' about being on the show - and got so carried away she accidentally dropped an F-bomb.
She stopped mid-sentence and apologized before carrying on - and joking that she would never come back on the show again.
