Enjoyed this move more than any in a long time. It was violent, and bad language, but don't recall any sex. Still, not for kids. Having said that, it was a perfect mix of action, a hero you can root for, in spite of his flaws, and the inclusion of the brother was an outstanding plot twist. I've liked Jon Bernthal since the WALKING DEAD came out, and I wish that show had handled his exit better. I'm more a fan of Ben Affleck now than I was before. When I saw him play Batman I started coming around. So looking forward to Justice League now!!! I'm a harsh personal critic of movies, I almost never go to the theater, and I almost never buy them on here because I can't watch the same movie more than once within a few years. I won't buy this one either, but that was a very very well spent rental fee. Proceed with confidence.

Well, this movie wasn't what I expected, and I like the way it played out. I am not the type of person who tries to figure out where a movie is going, and this one had some surprises even for me. It was just a different type of movie and I hope there is a sequel with the same people in it. The only thing I wish I knew more about was the farm couple he was working with at the beginning of the movie. That part kinda left you up in the air.

This is one of the movies I keep coming back to. It's fun, if you like your fun on the dark side. Movies about accountants, Treasury agents, and financial crime usually come off more like The Big Short than like Jason Bourne, but this movie pulls off the action well enough that I didn't have to work hard to suspend disbelief. There's a couple thin plot elements that seem like the result of editing for time, but they aren't glaring. The key element - an explicitly autistic superhero - is new territory. The supporting cast is superb. I could hope for sequels with the same ensemble.

I can not believe how bad was this movie. After a remake of an urban version of Rambo, the accountant first literally hugs his archi rival and then kills his boss, end of the movie. A complete non sense story, worst than squad. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

Why no 5.1? Why is there no 5.1 soundtrack for this movie? What is this, the 90s? Chris Hart's comedy special has one, but this action movie released in 2016, nope, stereo only. If you're wondering why you have to crank up your sound system to hear the dialogue, that's why.

Great Movie I was worried after reading a few reviews, but pay attention when you start this movie because it has things that come up through the movie that tie it all together. Would watch it again!

I loved this movie. I found it complex in character, but simple in storyline and execution. Ben Affleck's hero was just an extremely skilled, but generally nice man; for all that he was damaged. It makes me hope that the character comes back in another film, but dread the possibility because another movie might mess up the balance I think this film found. Watch it if you want something different from most action films. No big effects, almost no explosions, and few unrealistic happenings. Again, loved it!
Ben Affleck is here to do your taxes and kicks some butt...with a lot of guns. The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck, Ann Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, and Jeffrey Tambor, is a fantastic movie with everything I wished "Jason Bourne" had. I'm not sure what it is that has made Ben Affleck such a great hero in movies lately but in The Accountant, he plays an amazingly autistic, secret agent. Without giving away much of the plot, this story has a very interesting substance to it that will make you want a sequel.... Read more on Google+.
Rather solid four. Affleck's character is intriguing(Jason Bourne with Aspbergers) and Affleck plays it convincingly. The pacing for the movie is good, plot reveals itself slowly keeping the viewer guessing. And then, somewhere in the last 10 minutes the story falls apart, and one has to wonder what the whole thing was about. The Accountant launders money for terrorists, drug cartels, etc. That makes him BAAD, right? As in "evil". How about the brother (once you figure out who that is): isn't he a mercenary murderer? (i.e., "evil") Watch it, you will like it. And then you will forget in half an hour.
The cast is horrible. wish this could have been more like the movie A Beautiful Mind. Where Ben Affleck can actually overcome personal obstacles regarding mental illness and combine the violence and technique strategies but his lifestyle. List movie was okay not great. The black lady detective and ben afflecks brother are main supporting characters.. they suck. C LIST ACTORS.
Too much gun play and violence to be believable I thought this movie would finally set the record straight about accountants, it did not. True, the lead character did have a pocket protector and did avoid eye contact and stare into the distance for inspiration of obscure deductible items. I felt the movie had too much action and did not convey the depth of knowledge an individual needs to deal with current tax law. I am hopeful that the 2017 release of "The CPA: TaxTime Crunch" will get down to business
This movie had some exciting parts however I did not like it. Bad character development with poorly executed flashbacks makes the movie seem hard to follow. I am very surprised that so many people liked it...
OMG I absolutely loved this movie. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. This is an action packed thriller that keeps you guessing what the hell is going on all through the movie. I read the other reviews and am really surprised that some people really hated it. This movie is high action packed, with a deep sense of family ties all around an autistic boy and his family. The other actors that play in this movie along with Ben Aflack are all amazing. I really can't think of one bad thing to say about this movie. The ending really surprised me, and it took me a minute to figure out what exactly was going on at the end. However, I thought the ending was fantastic...
Beautiful Mind meets Jason Bourne?? Sorry but this movie just didn't quite come together the way I thought it would. I'm not sure that the story and various subplots even make sense and I stopped caring if they did anyway half way through the movie. Usually a bad sign if you stop caring during a movie. I give it 2 stars because I usually like Ben. Any other actor would have only gotten 1 star.
It's your typical action film with well developed characters and drama I really do not like Ben Affleck but he's been getting a lot better. I still think he's an aweful batman.
Epic This movie started off slow but ended the way it should have. Lots of twists and turns, but when it came down to it you knew the principle of the movie. There is nothing more important than family and a strong code of conduct. We'll done.
Not the worst movie I've seen, but... not exactly great either. Plot twist? Was a little disappointed that he wasn't some secret agent. Oh yeah, let's grab some coffee next week? what a crappy end.
A rather interesting movie, it's a shame that it wasn't quite a full blown Action film, but it did well. There are few things that would have been more interesting, such as seeing side-characters that we get to hear, but never see. In part it's similar as with Hitman franchise, but down the road we manage to see the character behind the voice that we heard much so often. Now this movie isn't a full blown Bourne shoot them up, but by no means is bad. I watched the trailer and found this movie interesting enough to actually watch, and I was not disappointed. And that's coming from a pretty big Bourne and Rambo loving guy.
Could they have constructed this film in a better, more fluid fashion? Certainly. But it's a darn good hour and a half anyway, albeit once again with Affleck in a violent mood. Just make sure to have everything you need, so you won't have to get up for even a mere 30 seconds, because doing so could cost you that one scene which explains a lot.
Fantastic! My wife invited me to see some movie called, "The Accountant." Boring! I agree and then ask, "Who's in it?" She replied, "Ben Affleck." Gaaaaaah! That guy is terrible. Then we went and saw it. Wow! Blown away! This movie is amazingly good. Story, plot, entertainment all gold. Ben Affleck has redeemed himself with me and add that to his good work as Batman, he is working his way into my good graces. :-)
I thought it was really entertaining. Wanted to see it in the theaters but never had time with work. Been waiting for it to release ever since and it lived up to my hype. Personally, I enjoy math, so it was interesting to see how they would connect a math savant to being a tactical killing machine. 1 star off for the ending as it was a little too goofy with how serious the film was leading up to that point.
Not sure what some reviewers were expecting...12 Years a Slave? I think this movie got trolled for some reason. Was Anna Kendrick miscast? Yes. As a whole, however, it was highly watchable, well shot and well edited...which is all I really want to know from a review btw. If you thought this was a bad movie...I feel bad for you, since you seem to lack the ability to enjoy casual entertainment. Rent it, watch it, enjoy, you're welcome.
They manage to pull off a geeky corny romance that's enjoyable to watch. Rotten tomatoes is worse than yelp. I used to pay attention to it but Rotten tomatoes is useless to me now.
I actually liked this movie. I felt sorry for the main character and that always hooks a viewer. I don't think Ben A is the best actor for the movie, but he did a good job as a character actor. The coincidence of the two brothers meeting in the same place, is formalistic. The killing got old. It was still action oriented and has lots of surprises.
I expected to be good with alot of action and a decent story. However, I found it be long, dragged out, boring and not enough action or excitement. Very disappointed.
It was alright. There's alot of action. But not that much 😂 I don't really know how to say it.
I always struggle to picture Affleck in any role, but then find myself enjoying almost all of his movies. Same here. While he struggles to pull off the high functioning autistic adult, he manages to keep you interested and invested in his character. Good choice if you like action along the lines of The Equalizer or Man on Fire
i went into this movie with very low expectations but came out at the other end totally satisfied. This is great story telling coupled with a surprise ending. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. How the heck can a movie about an assassin actually promote family values and a pitch to help autism. This movie pulls it off.
Didn't know what to expect Friends took me to watch this movie. Had never heard of it beforehand. I was pleasantly surprised.
Anybody that may say this isn't a good movie, either just doesn't like Affleck or thinks too highly of themselves. This is a Great movie with some very cool and unexpected surprises. After reading some reviews here I almost didn't get it, but i'm glad I did cause this is excellent. Ignore anything negative cause its simply not true. Great Flick 5-Stars
The Accountant was an absolutely fantastic movie. Ben Affleck's acting was phenomenal, and the chemistry between all of the characters seemed completely real. None of these characters were static at all, and the dynamic build of each of them through the movie makes it a must see. The action was enough to compare to a Bourne or a Bond movie, but wasn't over the top. It was an intellectual thriller through and through. Earned its R rating for the language, and for the graphic violence, that's it. Nothing seemed gratuitous, and it is easily a movie that I would watch several more times.
Terrible Movie Too Much Time Spent Counting. GOT SUSPICIOUS RIGHT AWAY.
I've found myself wanting more from Ben Affleck at times but he knocks this one out of the park. Great flick
Many seem to have a problem that the story line jumps back to history, but that is part of the mystery. This isn't supposed to be straight action thriller. This is a movie that you should try and THINK about while you enjoy the action. If you don't pay attention, you may miss what is important in the story line. This isn't for someone that just wants a killer/thriller. This is an action mystery. Remember that before you rent it.
Fantastic The psychological angle of an autistic accountant was not only realistic but flat out perfect. They did great branching off into the spectrum of his limited social skills and problems of overcoming them. Plus the lead character was a badass to boot!!! I thought it was going to go in a "Beautiful Mind" direction at first and be a slower movie but boy was i wrong!!! Great action, story, and the ending was great!!!
Wow!!! This was an epic movie! So many twists and turns. So many plot changes. I guessed a little bit of the plot early. But there were a few things it took me the whole movie the figure out. Been Affleck isn't his normal smiley character in this movie. Which also adds a little more to it. It was action packed, heart warming with tiny bits of humor.
Weird but good. There were a couple of plot holes, perhaps they get filled after watching it a couple of times but overall, a fairly continuous story. It certainly is an original story and presents "the Accountant" as a rather unusual hero. The action is good, the acting reasonable and the list of high level actors long and deep. No low budget to this one, that's for sure. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes the action genre.
How can anyone not like "genius" movies? Unfortunately, in this case, the acting was so poor and the cinematography so atrocious that I can only give this film two stars. Okay action. Okay story. Sup-bar performances.
This one is a guy's movie. The story (not exactly complex), the idea behind it (interesting), but it's really the underlying story of father/son, brother/brother that actually is the best part of the character backstory. In fact, the backstory, could be a full stand-alone movie (or Netflix series). Like I said, it's a guy move - it's not about romance, about getting the girl, about impressing the girl, it's about a personal code, he has developed over this lifetime. And how he has coped with the life he was given. All wrapped up in a highly enjoyable, kick-ass 120 minutes of entertainment.
