VINTAGE ROLLERS

As we age our hair naturally gets thinner, so my top beauty tip is to fake lots of volume. I do this the old-fashioned way, with Velcro rollers. They are so quick and simple to use, I pop about five rollers into the top sections of my hair when it’s dry and leave them in while I’m doing my make-up and getting dressed. After about 15 minutes I take them out, run my fingers through my hair and I’m good to go. It’s so easy!

UNUSUAL EXERCISE

I’m always looking for fun, different ways to exercise and unwind. My current favourite is Qigong, a Chinese practice that combines breathing techniques and specific postures to calm the mind. It doesn’t have to be physically challenging — my teacher is 64! But this non-traditional exercise improves my agility and is brilliant for easing aches and pains. There are Qigong classes all over the UK — visit cfq.org.uk to find your nearest one.

DON’T FORGET TONER

My skincare routine has been the same for years — I use Clarins products to cleanse, tone and moisturise every day. The one step I could never skip is toning. People say toners are old-fashioned nowadays, but I can always tell when I’ve been in a rush and have left the house without time to use it. My skin looks dull. So now I keep some Clarins Camomile Toner (£19.50, clarins.co.uk) in a spray bottle to refresh my skin whenever it needs it.

THINKING SPACE

I have a dedicated room in my house for meditation. I usually wake at 6am every day and spend an hour or two in my room with candles, focusing on deep breathing and clearing my mind. This helps me prepare for the day and balance my thoughts. Stress can be so ageing, so a positive outlook is the most youthful accessory you can have.

DAILY AVOCADO

I try to eat a healthy, balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. Avocados are my favourite ingredient. Whether it’s in a smoothie, with eggs for breakfast, or a salad for dinner, I usually eat one every day. Not only are they delicious, but they’re high in healthy fats including vegetable oil, which helps keep my hair shiny and my skin smooth.
