Helen Mirren showcases her classic style in an ethereal white and silver ensemble as her husband joins her for the 69th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards in Beverly Hills

She continues to defy her age as award season continues.

And Saturday evening was no different when Helen Mirren stepped out for the 69th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards in Beverly Hills.

The 71-year-old - who attended with husband Taylor Hackford - looked positively serene in a silvery/white ensemble.

Hugs with hubby: Her husband wore a classic black tie ensemble and cosied up to his wife as they walked the red carpet into the event, which celebrates the cream of the directing crop from the world of TV and film

Keeping things typically classic, Helen wore a white squire with shiny silver dots but added a grey sweater to mix things up. 

The Collateral Beauty star added a silver necklace and drop earrings to the look.

She finished things off with a splash of pink lipstick and wore her blonde bobbed hair is a choppy style.

Her husband wore a classic black tie ensemble and cosied up to his wife as they walked the red carpet into the event, which celebrates the cream of the directing crop from the world of TV and film.

Helen's appearance at the awards comes shortly after the first photos were revealed last week from the set of the Prime Suspect reboot - the show that rocketed Helen's fame 25 years ago on ITV.

The tenacious detective Jane Tennison is back in a new instalment of Lynda La Plante’s Prime Suspect saga; but Helen isn't a part of it.

Instead, the part is being played by Stefanie Martini in the rebooted six-part series.

The drama will show a 22-year-old Tennison battling misogyny at a police station in Hackney, East London. 

Ms Martini refused to watch tapes of Dame Helen’s award-winning portrayal before auditioning for the role.

She said: ‘I didn’t want to saturate myself with too much information or become obsessed.’

Author Lynda La Plante quit the Prime Suspect prequel after an alleged row over the portrayal of the early days of her heroine Jane Tennison. 

Helen, meanwhile, has two movies out in 2017 - The Fate Of The Furious and The Leisure Seeker.
