Kellyanne Conway mocks Democrats who 'cry and weep at the airports' - but don't have time to vote on Donald Trump's cabinet picks
- Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway appeared on Fox News Channel's MediaBuzz today
- She was asked by Howard Kurtz if she thought it was fair that Donald Trump took heat for firing acting Attorney General Sally Yates last week
- Conway said the bad press wasn't fair - adding that the problem could have been solved had Democrats allowed for a Senate vote on AG nominee Jeff Sessions
- During the interview, Conway also had to speak about her foot-in-mouth moment - referring to a 'Bowling Green Massacre,' which never occurred
- She also smacked Chelsea Clinton, who tweeted about Conway's made up terror attack, saying the Clinton daughter got better treatment than Barron Trump
Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway whacked Senate Democrats for spending time opposing President Donald Trump's travel ban, but not voting on his cabinet picks.
'So the Democrats, they want to go on the record, they have time to go and cry and weep at the airports, protesting something that they've completely bastardized,' she began. 'And yet they don't have time to give a fair hearing or an up or down vote on these nominees.'
Conway was speaking to Fox News Channel's Howard Kurtz about whether it was fair that Trump received bad press for firing acting Attorney General Sally Yates, after she instructed Justice Department attorney not to defend the Republican's controversial travel ban.

Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway scolded Senate Democrats who have time to 'cry and weep at the airports' but not vote on President Donald Trump's nominees
Kellyanne Conway (left) sat down with Fox News Channel's Howard Kurtz (right) and talked about the media treatment the Trump administration was receiving
'The bad press on that would be very unfair,' Conway replied. 'If she can't execute on the president of the United States' vision she shouldn't be there.'
'If she disagrees with what he's doing and maybe she shouldn't have been there from the beginning, but he has the right to seat his own government,' Conway added.
Yates, an Obama appointee, was only the nation's top attorney temporarily, as she would have stepped aside once Trump's nominee Jeff Sessions was confirmed.
Sessions' nomination has made it out of committee, but has yet to receive a full Senate vote.
Conway blamed Democrats for the delay.
'How about, I've got a novel idea, how about the Senate just confirms his nominee to the Department of Justice for attorney general, Jeff Sessions,' she said.
'Democrats have delayed his hearing, delayed his vote, tried to humiliate and embarrass him,' she continued.
'As we sit here right now, we have a record number of unconfirmed nominees to a presidential cabinet, 11, including treasury and commerce,' she added.
Through the course of the interview, Conway had plenty to say about the press as well, suggesting they should show more 'respect' and 'deference' to Trump, now that he's president.
And while she's railed against reporters when they've gotten things wrong, she was forced to discuss her own foot-in-mouth moment from this week.
Talking to NBC's Chris Matthews, Conway had referenced a 'Bowling Green Massacre,' a terror attack that never occurred.
In 2011, two Iraqi refugees, who had resettled in Bowling Green, were jailed after they attempted to send money and weapon to al-Qaeda for the purpose of killing American soldiers.
Speaking to Kurtz today she pointed to the parts of the story that she got right.
'It’s from 2011 or so and it talks about these two radicalized Iraqis that are part of Al Qaeda, they bragged about attacking American soldiers, they knew how to make IEDs,' she explained. 'I clarified immediately I should’ve said terrorists and not massacre.'
After that, Kurtz wanted to know if it's fair for the White House to label something 'fake news' if it's been a mistake that's been corrected – similar to Conway's 'Bowling Green massacre' quip.
Conway tried to put some sunlight between the two.
'That is not what the president means when he ways fake news on his Twitter,' she said. 'He is talking about things that were invented, and not just inaccurate.'
The top Trump aide also smacked back at Chelsea Clinton, who tweeted this week: 'Very grateful no one seriously hurt in the Louvre attack ...or the (completely fake) Bowling Green Massacre. Please don't make up attacks.'
First, Conway reminded the Fox News audience that the former first daughter had formerly worked for NBC News and was paid a six-figure salary.
'I don't remember one report she did – if you do, please help me,' Conway sniped. 'But I have nothing against Chelsea Clinton, I always treated her like a fabergé egg when she was in the White House as teenager, we'll see if Barron Trump gets the same respect.'
'So far he hasn't,' Conway said.
Sounding like her boss, who continues to talk about the presidential campaign – and his victory – Conway brought Hillary Clinton into it too.
'Chelsea Clinton attacking me, really Chels?' Conway said. 'Because your mom said Texas and Georgia and Arizona were turning blue so you went and spent all this money there and you ignored Wisconsin and Michigan and we did not, and we won them and Donald Trump won.'
