I’ve found my solemate! Man with an amputated left leg finally works out what to do with all his spare shoes: give them to a right leg amputee!

  • Amputee Josh Sundquist couldn't stand his right shoes constantly going spare
  • Josh had been saving the extra footwear for years hoping to find his solemate
  • Finally he met his Cinderella, Stephen, whose left leg had been amputated

In a modern day Cinderella story, single leg amputee Josh Sundquist had dozens of spare left shoes but no one to give them too.

Having lost his leg to cancer when he was a boy, Josh had no need for the spare trainers and they began piling up.

This touching video shows the moment Josh, 32 - a Paralympic skier - finally found someone he could give his bundle of extras too - right leg amputee Stephen.

Speaking to the camera, Josh says: 'I've finally found my solemate.

'His name is Stephen and he is missing his right leg. He has the same size shoe as I do.'

Cutting to a clip of Josh with his left shoes piled on his bed, Josh says: 'This is very exciting because I've been saving up these shoes for years and years waiting to find my solemate.'

Enter right leg amputee Stephen, a wheelchair user who says: 'I actually feel like Cinderella,' before both men strut off wearing the same pair of shoes.

Since meeting five years ago, Stephen has built enough upper body strength to move his own manual wheelchair and hold his newborn baby. Both men have become very good friends since first swapping shoes

Inspirational Josh previously received praise for his IHOP halloween costume in 2015.

The skier decided as a boy that he would never feel ashamed and celebrate what made him different.

So he designed his costume after the famous American pancake chain and hopped around for the day.

Since first swapping shoes five years ago, Josh and Stephen have become close friends.

Stephen has now moved to a manual wheelchair after building up enough upper body strength to push the wheels - extraordinarily despite being partially paralyzed in both arms.
