Six-year-old boy fights for life after nearly drowning at school swimming lesson

A young boy has been flown by helicopter to the Royal Children's Hospital after being pulled from a pool during school swimming lessons.

The child, believed to be about six, is in a serious but stable condition after he was dragged from the water in Victoria's east.

The boy is believed to have been pulled from the pool during school swimming lessons.

Paramedics were called to the Swifts Creek Pool on the Great Alpine Road at about 1pm where it is believed that children from the local primary school were having lessons.

The child was treated by emergency services at the scene before being airlifted in an ambulance helicopter.
