'Is he still alive'? Biggie Smalls' doppelgänger sends fans into a frenzy after appearing in drunken selfie twenty years after his unsolved murder

He was murdered in 1997 aged just 24, a year after his rival Tupac was shot dead. 

But hopeful fans have sent Instagram into a mini-frenzy after spotting a Biggie Smalls look-a-like. 

The Juicy legend's look-a-like appeared in a bachelor's stag do selfie, sparking fresh conspiracy theories.

Posing for the picture with his stags, a large suited figure resembling the Notorious B.I.G doppelgänger can be seen posing in the background.

'I don't know if I was too drunk last night but I swear biggie came to my bachelor party.... Biggie is alive... #hangoverpt4 #biggieisalive', Nass Kitojo wrote alongside the snap. 

And users quickly flocked to the picture, with one excited fan writing: 'This is crazy it really looks like him #WOW'.

Another added: 'I'm not a fan of Biggie my thing is 2Pac always but D**n that dude 4real looke like Biggie D**n I'm talk 4real ', but one more realistic follower wrote: 'Too short for Biggie....i have a pic with Biggie....i know 4sure thats not Bigs pimping~' (sic).

Meanwhile Biggie's widow Faith Evans, 43, who shares a son with the late star, has announced she will be releasing an album of their duets to mark his 45th birthday in May.

Their previous hits include One More Chance, and speaking about the release on her website, the singer wrote: 'I remember telling Ms. Wallace [the rapper's mother] years ago that one day it would be really dope if I could do something similar to Natalie and Nat King Cole's Unforgettable.

And in November Anthony Hemingway, the man behind hit series FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, struck a deal with USA Network to tell some more high-profile crime stories, according to Deadline Hollywood. 

The new series, titled Unsolved, is based off the book Murder Rap: The Untold Story of Biggie Smalls & Tupac Shakur Murder Investigations, which was penned by Greg Kading.

Kading used to be an LAPD detective in charge of task forces which investigated both of the rappers' murders.

Reportedly the series will draw on experiences during his time on the force as well.

Hemingway will direct the pilot episode, and Suits vet Kyle Long will pen the script.

The helmer is also responsible for WGN hit show Underground, about a group of slaves who strive to escape the South via the famous Underground Railroad. 

Unsolved promises to be just as riveting as the O.J. Simpson series, as both Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls' cases were never solved.

Shakur died from multiple gunshots after a somewhat mysterious drive by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996. He was only 25-years-old.

Recording artist Biggie Smalls, also known as The Notorious B.I.G., also died from gunshots wounds received during a drive by shooting only a year later in Los Angeles.

Again, the killer was never found; Biggie was 24-year-old at the time of his death. 

Both rappers were participants in the famous coastal feud that rocked the hip hop world in the mid nineties, and have since gained an almost mythical status among fans.
