'My sister told me you too are dating Delta': Karl Stefanovic looks nervous as Hugh Sheridan jokes about tabloid rumours on his love life following split from wife Cassandra Thorburn

He's been linked to a number of women in the tabloids since his split from his wife of 21-years, Cassandra Thorburn, late last year.

Most recently Karl Stefanovic was reported to be dating The Voice Australia's Delta Goodrem, who has also been linked to her House Husbands co-star Hugh Sheridan.

So, when Hugh appeared on the Today Show on Monday to promote the new season, he made light of the rumour mill, which appeared to make Karl appear visibly uncomfortable.

Nervous? The Today Show hosts appeared a little concerned about where the chat was headed at first when Hugh (right) brought up the romance gossip

'My sister Zoe told me yesterday that you too are dating Delta,' he told Karl and co-host Lisa Wilkinson via satellite from Los Angeles.

Hi comment came after they asked the former Packed To The Rafters actor about working with the singer, who plays his love interest in the new season.

'Delta contacted me the other day and she said we were having a baby as well. I said "are you sure it is mine?" She said she read an article that we were together and she found out she was pregnant so she assumed it was mine,' Hugh joked.

'And whose baby it is. Is it mine or yours?' Hugh pressed, making Karl laugh.

'Whose baby it is?' Hugh continued to make fun of the rumours adding that Delta was pregnant but he didn't know about the paternity

'If it comes out singing, then it is mine': The former Packed To The Rafters star recently performed at the G'Day USA gala in Los Angeles, singing the national anthem

'You will have to wait until next week's front cover to find out, because I think there's someone else in the mix this week and I don't like it,' he then cheekily retorted.

'If it comes out singing, then it is mine, if it comes out hosting the morning show, it is definitely yours,' Hugh added, continuing the joke.

'Could be Dickie's,' newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys piped up.

Even as they said their goodbyes the joke continued but this time Karl got in on the action, warning Hugh: 'Stay away from Delta'

'No, you stay away. You watch it. You watch it. That baby is mine. DNA,' he said pointing down the camera.

Karl and Cassandra were the subject of split reports late last year, with Cassandra confirming the end of their 21-year marriage in November.

This week, Karl broke his silence on their relationship breakdown, telling The Herald Sun: 'For me personally I would definitely have failures in a husband sense and hope that I can rectify my failures as a Dad'.

While Hugh and Delta have been long-time friends, it's not believed the pair are romantically involved.
