Lewis Hamilton gets a massage in LA as he unwinds ahead of 2017 Formula One season with Mercedes

With the new Formula One season just around the corner, you would expect the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso to be occupied with intensive testing night and day.

But for the three-time world champion Hamilton, life is still very much at ease ahead of next month's season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

The son of Stevenage is currently enjoying an extended break in Los Angeles, complete with runs along the Pacific coast in the morning and deep-tissue massages in the afternoon.

We know this because he documented both on his Instagram story, giving his 3.7million followers further insight into the life of Britain’s richest sportsman.

The F1 driver-turned-vagabond capped a rather dramatic change in location and climate to last week, when he was again providing his Instagram followers with his exploits on the ski slopes.

But Hamilton, who earns £32m a year at Mercedes, will have to say goodbye to the Californian coast in a matter of weeks and report for testing at Silverstone race track on February 23.

Not only will he get behind the wheel of the 2017 Silver Arrow for the first time, but he will also link up with new team-mate Valtteri Bottas, who joined from Williams after the shock retirement of Nico Rosberg.

Rosberg, who narrowly won the 2016 world drivers title, decided to pack in his career after revealing the stress it had placed on his young family.

The rivalry both Rosberg and Hamilton have shared will be sorely missed by F1 fans but those same followers are also looking forward to seeing what the highly-rated Bottas can do behind the wheel of the fastest car on the grid.
