The cast of HBO's Girls celebrated the show's sixth and final season at the premiere party on Thursday night in New York City. For their last hurrah, the series' four leading ladies went all out with their red-carpet looks, especially Lena Dunham, who turned heads with electric pink eyeshadow.
Not only did the 30-year-old wear the neon hue on top of and under her eyes (her make-up artist Matin creatively used a shade from MAC's new Colour Rocker lipstick collection), but she also wore pink eyeliner and pink mascara as well.
'So much fun to get into these crazy fun looks with her,' wrote Matin on Instagram.
Bright eyes: Lena Dunham, 30, turned heads at the season premiere of Girls in New York on Thursday with bright pink eye make-up
Going for it: Never one to shy away from a bold beauty look, the Girls star and creator topped off the electric hue with glitter
This was not the first time a celebrity dared to step out onto the red carpet with a halo of the bright color around her eyes this week.
Sophia Bush, 34, rocked a fuchsia look at the SAG Awards on Sunday.
Make-up artist Patrick Ta created the vibrant style by layering various pink shades of Chanel blush and lipstick, in addition to buffing a swipe of purple eyeshadow into the outer corners.
Trending: Sophia Bush, 34, wore a similar look to Lena earlier this week at the SAG Awards. The smoky eye perfectly matched her Marchesa gown
A hot pink or fuchsia smoky eye is intimidating to be sure, but the pros have tricks to keep the look from resembling conjunctivitis.
You'll notice that both Lena and Sophia wore little make-up elsewhere on their faces.
Patrick told allure.com, 'I wanted to keep the skin as fresh and natural as possible. So to do that, I sheered out the foundation with a little bit of oil so that you could see the texture of her skin underneath.'
He also recommends fully committing to the color choice. 'You need to use a saturated shade of pink, otherwise you're going to look like your eyes are irritated.'
Finally, to avoid looking too ostentatious and busy, choose an outfit with dark, neutral colors (like Lena) or one that perfectly matches the eye look (like Sophia).
