Perth Wildcats veteran Shawn Redhage has announced he will retire at the end of the 2016/17 NBL season.
The news comes ahead of the 36-year-old's 372nd Wildcats game – which will see him move up to second on the club's all-time games-played list, surpassing James Crawford.
The 36-year old has played 384 games in the NBL, which included a stint with the New Zealand Breakers in 2005 before he made the move to Perth.
Redhage has averaged 18 points per game over his 13-seasons, with a career-high of 40 points back in 2008 - no Wildcat has had a better scoring night since.
In 2009, he was made captain of the Wildcats and in his first season in the position became a championship player for the first time – helping the club break a 10-year title drought.
Radhage had a successful college career at Arizona State, his first professional basketball gig was with the NW Tasmanian Thunder in the SEABL, where he averaged 35 points per game and won the league's MVP as a rookie.
This led to his signing by the NZ Breakers and after being waived he returned to the SEABL for the Bendigo Braves – this time winning the South MVP and the Championship.
