Hell of a halftime show! Lady Gaga sang America The Beautiful from atop the stadium in Houston at the star of her Super Bowl 51 performance

Showstopper! Gaga promised she would do it 'her way' and she did as she launched into a 13 minute solo halftime show

Shining star: The 30-year-old donned a silver sequinned body suit with padded shoulders and long sleeves which she paired with knee-high matching silver boots

High energy: Gaga later swapped out her sequinned bodysuit for a pair of glitter short shorts and a white crop top with silver stud detailing and layered epaulettes on the shoulders and let her blonde hair fly loose

Did it all! She also added a funky gold tinsel-style cropped jacket over her bodysuit for one segment of her stunning show

Born this way: Gaga's set list included her biggest hits including Poker Face, Telephone, Million Reasons and Bad Romance

She did not have any guest performers opting instead to do a 13 minutes solo set as she rocked the Houston stadium during the face off between the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots.

She kicked off her set wearing a silver sequinned body suit with padded shoulders and long sleeves which she paired with matching shiny boots.

The outfit changed colors as it reflected the lighting and special effects in the stadium as she sang.

Jaw-dropping: It had been rumored Gaga wanted to perform on the dome of the stadium but no-one thought she would be able to pull it off  - but she did do it her way, singing America The Beautiful against a dark sky and the city lights

Painted: She wore bright red lipstick and had a purple and black sequinned eye mask drawn onto her face

Upside down: She proved herself to be something of a trapeze artist as she pulled off her heart-stopping descent after jumping from the stadium roof

Flying through the air! the artist, 30, dangled high above the stadium crowd

The recording artist has said it was a childhood dream of hers to perfome at the Super Bowl.

And as her dream came true, she gave a shoutout to her parents Cindy and Joe Germanotta.

After sitting at a piano for a rendition of Million reasons, she paused and said: 'Hey dad, hi mom.'

Proud moment: Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - slowed the pace down with a rendition of million reasons accompanying herself on the piano, pausing briefly to give a shoutout to her mom and dad

Quite a crowd: She then ratcheted the energy right back up again with a costume change and a team of dancers

Adrenaline pumping: There was no stopping the hitmaker who powered through her set

Queen gaga: She sang her heart put as she was carried on the shoulders of some of her male back-up dancers

In the zone: Gaga was committed to giving it her all and the crowd went crazy with delight

Gaga later swapped out her sequinned bodysuit for a pair of glitter short shorts and a white crop top with silver stud detailing and layered epaulettes on the shoulders and let her blonde hair fly loose

She let her long blonde hair fly loose as she writhed on stage with a dance troupe before being lifted high into the air but some of her male back-up dancers.

Shortly before the annual football game kicked off, the singer posted a message to Instagram, saying: 'I dedicate every second to the love, diversity, compassion, and wild spirit of our fan base. To that kid who felt unwanted, or the grown up who remembers how hard it was to find acceptance. This is for you.'

Her high energy show featured dancers and certainly was packed with adrenaline-pumping moments as she ran through a set list of her all her hits.

The recording artist had been dedicated to her Super Bowl prep, seen practicing hard with her band several times over the last few weeks.

In the Good Morning America interview, the celeb told Michael Strahan she was going to put her own spin on the sporting event.

'When I play the NLG stadium in Houston I'm gonna play it like it's a dive bar. I'm gonna do it my way,' she told the former football pro turned TV personality.

Gaga shared this image and message to her Instagram, dedicating her halftime performance to her fans and for those who feel 'unwanted' or who struggle to 'find acceptance'

While not overtly political it did stay true to her practice of promoting inclusion and equality in her music.

The Poker Face songstress said in a press conference earlier:  'I think that music is one of the most powerful things the world has to offer. '

'No matter what race or religion or nationality, sexual orientation, gender that you are, it has the power to unite us. So this performance is for everyone.'
