XÁCARA DAS BRUXAS DANÇANDO
1
Era outrora um conde
que fez um país,
com sangue de moiro,
com laranjas de oiro,
como a sorte quis.
Há bruxas que dançam
quando a noite dança,
são unhas de nojo,
são bicos de tojo,
no tambor da esperança.
Ventos sem destino
que dizeis às ramas?
Desgraça bramindo
é a nós que chamas.
No país que outrora
um conde teceu,
as laranjas de oiro
são bruxas de agoiro
e fúrias do céu.
Anda o sol de costas
e as bruxas dançando
e os ventos do norte
sobre nós espalhando
as tranças de morte.
As estrelas mortas
apagam-se aos molhos:
vem, lume perdido,
florir-nos os olhos.

Ama, estarás ouvindo
a história que vou contando?
Ó ama pátria dormindo
desde quando?
Desde tempos e memórias,
desde lágrimas e histórias,
desde raivas e glórias,
agora te estou chorando
e tu dormindo
até quando?
As bruxas andam lá fora
e eu chorando
versos do país de outrora.
Dançam bruxas a ganir
de mãos dadas com o vento.
Ama, acorda; sopra o lume;
E não me deixes dormir
na noite do pensamento.

armas e tesoiros,
quem vos escondeu?

que ventos de agoiro
vos apodreceu?

onde as bruxas moram,

Caravelas, caravelas,
mortas sob as estrelas
como candeias sem luz.
E os padres da inquisição

As bruxas dançam de roda

Há bruxas que dançam quando a noite dança, são unhas de nojo, são bicos de tojo, no tambor da esperança. Ventos sem destino que dizeis às ramas? Desgraça bramindo é a nós que chamas. No país que outrora um conde teceu, as laranjas de oiro são bruxas de agoiro e fúrias do céu. Anda o sol de costas e as bruxas dançando e os ventos do norte sobre nós espalhando as tranças de morte. As estrelas mortas apagam-se aos molhos: vem, lume perdido, florir-nos os olhos. 2 Ama, estarás ouvindo a história que vou contando? Ó ama pátria dormindo desde quando? Desde tempos e memórias, desde lágrimas e histórias, desde raivas e glórias, agora te estou chorando e tu dormindo até quando? As bruxas andam lá fora e eu chorando versos do país de outrora. One in five of all the bird species in the world live in the rainforests of the Amazon, and one in five of the fish species live in Amazonian rivers and streams.
Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) - A region of tropical and subtropical forest which extends along the Atlantic coast of Brazil from Rio Grande do Norte state in the Northeast to Rio Grande do Sul state in the South. The Atlantic Forest has a wide variety of vegetation, including the many tree species such as the iconic araucaria tree in the south or the mangroves of the northeast, dozens of types of bromeliads and orchids, and unique critters such as capivara. The forest has also been designated a World Biosphere Reserve, with a large number of highly endangered species including the well-known marmosets, lion tamarins and woolly spider monkeys. Unfortunately, it has been extensively cleared since colonial times, mainly for the farming of sugar cane and for urban settlements — The remnants are estimated to be less than 10% of the original, and that is often broken into hilltop islands. However, large swaths of it are protected by hundreds of parks, including 131 federal parks, 443 state parks, and 14 municipal parks, most of which are open to visitation.
Campos Gerais - With a vast vegetation of grasses and areas of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest, this region offers beautiful scenery of cliffs and canyons, as Jaguaricatú Valley, beyond the fifth and the eighth most extensive canyons in the world, which are respectively Guartelá and Jaguariaíva . Jaguariaíva the canyon is made more beautiful rafting activity in Brazil.
Pantanal - A vast tropical wetland expanse, one of the world's largest. 80% of it lies within the state of Mato Grosso do Sul but it also extends into Mato Grosso (as well as into portions of Bolivia and Paraguay), sprawling over an area estimated at between 140,000 and 195,000 square kilometers (54,000-75,000 sq mi). 80% of the Pantanal floodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons, nurturing an astonishing biologically diverse collection of aquatic plants and helping support a dense array of animal species.
Waterfalls (Cachoeiras) - Brazil has an amazing range of impressive waterfalls of all sizes and shapes. Iguaçu Falls, in eastern Parana, is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, truly a sight to see. The 353-meter Cachoeira da Fumaça in Bahia's Chapada Diamantina National Park is the country's second highest waterfall, after the Amazon's almost inaccessible Cachoeira do Araca. Other famous waterfalls include Caracol Falls, in a Rio Grande do Sul state park of the same name near Canela, Itaquira Falls, an easily accessible 168-meter fall near Formosa, Goiás, and the gorge at Parque da Cascata near Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais. Aside from the nationally famous falls, in many parts of the country, particularly the South, Southeast, and Central West regions, you are rarely far from at least one locally-famous, named waterfall worth a short hike.

A three-kilometre avenue of sphinxes leads from Luxor to Karnak. Built during the reigns of Ramses the 2nd and Amenophis the 3rd, this impressive avenue was dedicated to three gods of Thebes. The façade of the 260 metre long temple is decorated with six huge statues of Ramses. At night, the temple complex has an air of mystique. and light casts ghostly shadows all around as fearsome monuments gaze into infinity. At its zenith, a million people inhabited Thebes. The necropolis covers 25 km² and the graves of 64 kings, queens and those in High Office have been discovered there. With the exception of Amenophis, each of the pharaohs of the new realm was buried in the necropolis, as well as the legendary, Tutanchamun. Edfu with its tower, outer walls, buildings and halls is still in almost perfect condition and at its entrance royal falcons carved from granite stand guard. Its walls are an authentic history book of Egyptian myth and legend. The Egyptian gods are everywhere as impressive statues, fragile carvings and paintings. Kom Ombo is a temple complex for two deities, Horus the Falcon and Sobek the Crocodile. The mummified holy crocodiles are stored in a special chamber. Indeed, cemeteries have been discovered that contain thousands of mummified dogs, cats, baboons and crocodiles. While walking from chamber to chamber it’s like travelling back in time for thousands of years. The journey on the Nile leads to the archaeological excavation site of Philae, on the island of Agilika. This island, with its fantastic temple complexes, was once the pearl of Egypt. The stone witnesses on the river banks stand silently as the boat continues on its journey further into Egypt, an impressive country that has an amazing ancient history and a modern awareness of its glorious past.

Valparaiso Travel Guide - Exploring Chile's Cultural Capital Video Transcript:
So, hello from Valparaiso. That means paradise on the valley. We have a few days to explore the city and we're planning to do most of it on foot. Yes, and most of it is going up hills as well. And there is so much cool street art here. So we're going to be taking a few different walking tours while we're in town. Today we're doing the first one which should be an overview of the city. And it should be fun. So we're going to take you on a little guided tour of Valparaiso. Yee-haw!
To say Valparaiso is a bit hilly would be an understatement. The city is a maze of steep inclines which means the best way to get around and save your legs for sightseeing, is by riding up and down the funiculars. It might seem a bit daunting considering some of these are well over a hundred years old, but they still do the job.
And this is our friend the pup who has joined our tour. She's the official bodyguard. And she knows where the funiculars are located so she took the stairs instead. Hi, pup. You're sweet aren't you? Yes, you are. Yes, you are. Yes, you are.
If we can offer one recommendation for visiting Valparaiso, it would be to join one of the free walking tours towards the beginning of your stay. This is a great way to get some background history and to familiarize yourself with the various neighbourhoods. The local guides know where to find the best murals, so consider this a scouting mission. You can always come back with a bit more time to explore the area with your camera in hand.
Apparently, there are 42 hills in the city and we're just exploring it for the first time today. And my first impressions are so much better now that we're seeing this cool part. It is so colorful, so artsy and lots of fun to check out. Exactly.
Another thing we really enjoyed about our walking tour of Valparaiso, was the company of all the dogs. Valparaiso has a lot of strays roaming the streets, but we found the dogs to be super friendly and affectionate. We also noticed locals feeding dogs.
We're having a little food break. I think we're going to try some empanadas. And I see that they have shrimp ones on the menu. Shrimp and cheese empanadas so those should be really tasty.
The harbor tours depart from Muelle Prat as soon as they get a boat-full of passengers. During the outing you’ll go past container ships, tug boats, and navy vessels, plus you’ll also have a guide on-board to point out sights along the way.
Viña del Mar is a super quick day trip from Valparaiso. The two cities are only 8 kilometers apart and you can easily get there with the above ground metro system that runs along the beach. It’s only a 15 minute ride, and it’s quite the change in scenery. Whereas Valparaiso is colorful, artsy, and gritty, Viña del Mar is a bit more chic and modern. That being said, while we enjoyed our day trip to Viña del Mar, we were really glad we decided to stay in Valparaiso as we felt it had way more character.
So our time in Valparaiso is coming to an end. What are your final thoughts of the place? Yeah, that is a wrap from here. I loved it here. It was one of the coolest cities that I think we've visited on this entire South America trip. We have to show you the views from our balcony. Look at that. So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland.

Trinity College was founded in 1592 and it is the oldest university in Ireland. The campus is open to visitors interested in touring the grounds, and you'll also get to hear some fascinating stories of famous students, including the likes of Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, and Bram Stoker.
The Guinness Storehouse is Dublin's most popular attraction, and it's a must-visit for beer lovers. The Storehouse covers seven floors surrounding a glass atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness. Inside you'll also find a copy of the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness on the brewery site - they won't be going anywhere for a while!
Grafton Street is one of the main shopping areas in Dublin. You're likely to find lots of musicians, buskers, and performers along here, plus you get a good vantage point of The Spire.
Prior to the establishment of Glasnevin Cemetery, Irish Catholics had no place of their own to bury their dead. This burial ground gave both Irish Catholics and Protestants a place where they could give their dead dignified burial, and it has since become the resting place for people of all religions and non religions.
Experience Gaelic Games is a place where you can come and try traditional Irish sports like hurling and Gaelic football.
The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where Jameson Irish Whiskey was distilled until 1971. It is now a visitor centre that offers both guided tours and whiskey tastings.
Temple Bar is an area known for its lively nightlife. Located on the southbank of the River Liffey, you'll find all sorts of pubs playing live music once the sun goes down. There's also one pub in Temple Bar, called The Temple Bar, but don't let that confuse you.

So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland.

Brazil is the largest country in South America and fifth largest in the world. Famous for its football (soccer) tradition and its annual Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Recife and Olinda. It is a country of great diversity, from the bustling urban mosaic of São Paulo to the infinite cultural energy of Pernambuco and Bahia, the wilderness of the Amazon rainforest and world-class landmarks such as the Iguaçu Falls, there is plenty to see and to do in Brazil.

Amazon Rainforest - The Amazon River Basin holds more than half of the world's remaining rainforest, and over 60% of that lies within the North of Brazil — approximately one billion acres with incredible biodiversity. The region is home to about 2.5 million insect species, over 40,000 plants species, 2200 fish species, and more than 2,000 types of birds and mammals. One in five of all the bird species in the world live in the rainforests of the Amazon, and one in five of the fish species live in Amazonian rivers and streams.
Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlântica) - A region of tropical and subtropical forest which extends along the Atlantic coast of Brazil from Rio Grande do Norte state in the Northeast to Rio Grande do Sul state in the South. The Atlantic Forest has a wide variety of vegetation, including the many tree species such as the iconic araucaria tree in the south or the mangroves of the northeast, dozens of types of bromeliads and orchids, and unique critters such as capivara. The forest has also been designated a World Biosphere Reserve, with a large number of highly endangered species including the well-known marmosets, lion tamarins and woolly spider monkeys. Unfortunately, it has been extensively cleared since colonial times, mainly for the farming of sugar cane and for urban settlements — The remnants are estimated to be less than 10% of the original, and that is often broken into hilltop islands. However, large swaths of it are protected by hundreds of parks, including 131 federal parks, 443 state parks, and 14 municipal parks, most of which are open to visitation.
Campos Gerais - With a vast vegetation of grasses and areas of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest, this region offers beautiful scenery of cliffs and canyons, as Jaguaricatú Valley, beyond the fifth and the eighth most extensive canyons in the world, which are respectively Guartelá and Jaguariaíva . Jaguariaíva the canyon is made more beautiful rafting activity in Brazil.
Pantanal - A vast tropical wetland expanse, one of the world's largest. 80% of it lies within the state of Mato Grosso do Sul but it also extends into Mato Grosso (as well as into portions of Bolivia and Paraguay), sprawling over an area estimated at between 140,000 and 195,000 square kilometers (54,000-75,000 sq mi). 80% of the Pantanal floodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons, nurturing an astonishing biologically diverse collection of aquatic plants and helping support a dense array of animal species.
Waterfalls (Cachoeiras) - Brazil has an amazing range of impressive waterfalls of all sizes and shapes. Iguaçu Falls, in eastern Parana, is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world, truly a sight to see. The 353-meter Cachoeira da Fumaça in Bahia's Chapada Diamantina National Park is the country's second highest waterfall, after the Amazon's almost inaccessible Cachoeira do Araca. Other famous waterfalls include Caracol Falls, in a Rio Grande do Sul state park of the same name near Canela, Itaquira Falls, an easily accessible 168-meter fall near Formosa, Goiás, and the gorge at Parque da Cascata near Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais. Aside from the nationally famous falls, in many parts of the country, particularly the South, Southeast, and Central West regions, you are rarely far from at least one locally-famous, named waterfall worth a short hike.

Colonial architecture - Many cities have reminders of Brazil's colonial past, with churches, monasteries, forts, barracks, and other structures still intact. Some of the most concentrated and best-preserved colonial buildings can be found in old gold-mining towns such as Ouro Preto and Tiradentes, but many other cities such as Rio de Janeiro, Petrópolis, Salvador, Recife, Paraty, and Goiânia have quite significant colonial centers as well.
Oscar Niemeyer works - Niemeyer, Brazil's most famous architect, is a modern architectural pioneer who explores the aesthetic impact of reinforced concrete, using curves to create buildings with a unique sense of space.
