The fertile plains of Vojvodina are dotted with ploughed fields, cornfields, vineyards and orchards, connected by irrigation and drainage canals between the large Danube and Tisa rivers, as well as the Sava, Tamiš, Begej and Nera rivers and the streams of Fruška Gora. Major waterways divide Vojvodina into Bačka, Banat and Srem.
The distinctive landscape of the Pannonian Plain is also sprinkled with lonely, old draw-wells in the fields and windmills which once harnessed the power of the wind to grind wheat. Horses gallop around the spacious plain, either harnessed into carriages or mounted in one of the many Vojvodinian stables.
The blend of peoples, languages, faiths and cultures, which live in harmony and with mutual respect, brighten up the towns and villages of Vojvodina, creating wonderful diversity in the architecture of houses and yards, the style of furniture in guest rooms, the colours and decorations of national dress, the taste of food, the music and folklore and folk and religious customs.

ФК Војводина основан је 1914. године у Новом Саду, од стране ученика Велике православне српске гимназије, а као реакција на тада већ постојећа јеврејска и мађарска спортска друштва. На Видовдан 1924. године свечано је отворен стадион клуба "Карађорђе", који је своје изворно име поново добио 2007. године.
FC Vojvodina was founded in 1914. in Novi Sad by students of the Great Orthodox Serbian Gymnasium, as a reaction to the already existing Hungarian and Jewish sport societies. On Saint Vitus Day (Vidovdan) 1924., the club stadion "Karadjordje" was ceremonially opened, and the stadium regained its original name in 2007.

When the Economist magazine described the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina in 2009 as being on a thin edge leading to its independence, citing the fact that under Milosevic, both Kosovo and Vojvodina had equal autonomy, not many people reacted. Now, the situation is starting to get critical.
The 1974 Yugoslav constitution didn't only give the Serbian region of Kosovo wide autonomy and the traits of a republic, it also gave that to the north of Serbia -- a stretch of land called Vojvodina. Vojvodina has always been an attractive chunk of real estate, for centuries exploited by outside powers for its fertile farmland.
Even though Serbs first settled this land around the 6th century, a bunch of Hungarian conquests lead to the gradual takeover of all of todays Vojvodina by Hungarians. Despite that, more Serbs started settling from the 14th century onward. The Serbs finally declared the Serbian Voivodship, where the name Vojvodina came from, meaning 'duchy', in 1848. After the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed, Vojvodina legally united with Serbia, a status that remains to this day.
Vojvodinians, just as Montenegrins, are more often looked upon as different than the rest of Serbs. Like in Montenegro, Serbian cyrillic script disappeared overnight on official provisional web-sites and there are more and more claims that Vojvodinians are a nation, with their own language.
So, on August 15, 2012, Nenad Canak annouced the formation of an 'autonomist front', an anti-constitutional league consisting of his party and other parties who want to take more power from the new Belgrade government, which will aim to internationalize the so-called 'Vojvodina question'. Canak claims that he'll talk to several factors within the international community and see what he should do next.
This could be opening another Pandora's box in the Balkans, where people are sick and tired of separatist conflicts and just want to live in peace. It seems that Canak will stop at nothing to secede Vojvodina from the rest of Serbia, hoping that he'll gain absolute power in that way.
Former German Ambassador to Belgrade Andreas Zobel threatened Belgrade back in 2007 that if it insisted on Kosovo being an integral part of Serbia, flares could ignite in Vojvodina and the Serbian region of Rashka, or Sandzak. It might just be a matter of time before the West tells Serbia that, for the sake of EU membership, it should not only give up Kosovo, but Vojvodina as well. Unless, of course, if Serbia starts ignoring what the West wants, and starts doing what it wants.

Vojvodina (Serbian Cyrillic: Војводина), officially the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina (Serbian: Аутономна Покрајина Војводина / Autonomna Pokrajina Vojvodina, [ʋǒjʋodina]; see Names in other languages), is an autonomous province of Serbia, located in the northern part of the country, in the Pannonian Plain. Novi Sad is the largest city and administrative center of Vojvodina and the second-largest city in Serbia. Vojvodina has a population of approximately 2 million (approximately 26.88% of the Serbian population excluding Kosovo, and 21.56% including it). It has a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural identity; there are more than 26 ethnic groups in the province, which has six official languages.
Name
The term vojvodina in Serbian means a type of duchy – more specifically, a voivodeship. It derives from the word "vojvoda" (See: voivode) which stems from the Proto-Slavic language word "voevoda". Those words are etymologically connected with modern-day words "vojnik" (soldier) and "voditi" (to lead). Its original name (from 1848) was the "Serbian Voivodeship" (Srpska Vojvodina) which then became "Voivodeship of Serbia" ("Vojvodstvo Srbija").

Fracturing Serbia: Is Vojvodina the Next Powder Keg?
When the Economist magazine described the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina in 2009 as being on a thin edge leading to its independence, citing the fact that under Milosevic, both Kosovo and Vojvodina had equal autonomy, not many people reacted. Now, the situation is starting to get critical. The 1974 Yugoslav constitution didn't only give the Serbian region of Kosovo wide autonomy and the traits of a republic, it also gave that to the north of Serbia -- a stretch of land called Vojvodina. Vojvodina has always been an attractive chunk of real estate, for centuries exploited by outside powers for its fertile farmland. Even though Serbs first settled this land around the 6th century, a bunch of Hungarian conquests lead to the gradual takeover of all of todays Vojvodina by Hungarians. ...

Major waterways divide Vojvodina into Bačka, Banat and Srem.
The distinctive landscape of the Pannonian Plain is also sprinkled with lonely, old draw-wells in the fields and windmills which once harnessed the power of the wind to grind wheat. Horses gallop around the spacious plain, either harnessed into carriages or mounted in one of the many Vojvodinian stables.
The blend of peoples, languages, faiths and cultures, which live in harmony and with mutual respect, brighten up the towns and villages of Vojvodina, creating wonderful diversity in the architecture of houses and yards, the style of furniture in guest rooms, the colours and decorations of national dress, the taste of food, the music and folklore and folk and religious customs.

When the Economist magazine described the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina in 2009 as being on a thin edge leading to its independence, citing the fact that under Milosevic, both Kosovo and Vojvodina had equal autonomy, not many people reacted. Now, the situation is starting to get critical.
The 1974 Yugoslav constitution didn't only give the Serbian region of Kosovo wide autonomy and the traits of a republic, it also gave that to the north of Serbia -- a stretch of land called Vojvodina. Vojvodina has always been an attractive chunk of real estate, for centuries exploited by outside powers for its fertile farmland.
Even though Serbs first settled this land around the 6th century, a bunch of Hungarian conquests lead to the gradual takeover of all of todays Vojvodina by Hungarians. Despite that, more Serbs started settling from the 14th century onward. The Serbs finally declared the Serbian Voivodship, where the name Vojvodina came from, meaning 'duchy', in 1848. After the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed, Vojvodina legally united with Serbia, a status that remains to this day.
Vojvodinians, just as Montenegrins, are more often looked upon as different than the rest of Serbs. Like in Montenegro, Serbian cyrillic script disappeared overnight on official provisional web-sites and there are more and more claims that Vojvodinians are a nation, with their own language.
So, on August 15, 2012, Nenad Canak annouced the formation of an 'autonomist front', an anti-constitutional league consisting of his party and other parties who want to take more power from the new Belgrade government, which will aim to internationalize the so-called 'Vojvodina question'. Canak claims that he'll talk to several factors within the international community and see what he should do next.
This could be opening another Pandora's box in the Balkans, where people are sick and tired of separatist conflicts and just want to live in peace. It seems that Canak will stop at nothing to secede Vojvodina from the rest of Serbia, hoping that he'll gain absolute power in that way.
Former German Ambassador to Belgrade Andreas Zobel threatened Belgrade back in 2007 that if it insisted on Kosovo being an integral part of Serbia, flares could ignite in Vojvodina and the Serbian region of Rashka, or Sandzak. It might just be a matter of time before the West tells Serbia that, for the sake of EU membership, it should not only give up Kosovo, but Vojvodina as well. Unless, of course, if Serbia starts ignoring what the West wants, and starts doing what it wants.

Cycling Vojvodina 2014
Me and my GF were cycling last week and i made a movie about it :) We were traveling from Novi Sad to Palic in Serbia (Vojvodina area). We had a great time and a great weather and really nice weekend. Many thanks to Vojvodjanski Biser hostel for a great meals and great pool :) I hope you will like it :) P.S. This is 3th time i am using sony vegas so sorry if there is any mistake :)

First stop, David meets up with local guide Milos in the main square of the city in Liberty Square center. Milos explains the origins of Novi Sad: The city was founded in the 17th century and now is the second largest city in Serbia.
The Name of Mary Catholic Church is situated in the heart of the city, in the center of Liberty Square. It's Neo Gothic architecture is quite striking, and if you happen to get lost you could always find your way back to Liberty Square by using the church as a landmark.
Surrounding the church are several 19th century buildings built in Hungarian style. Next stop is the pedestrian-friendly boulevard, Zmaj Jovina Street. Lined with shops and sidewalk cafes, it is the very place for a coffee or light lunch.
Milos and David head on their way to the 17th century Petrovaradin Fortress on the Danube River. This is the second largest fortress in Europe. They first pass through Danavska Street (Danube Street), the oldest street in the city. Once they arrive at the base of Petrovaradin Fortress they make their way up the 200 steps.
From the top of fortress you'll get excellent views of the Danube River and the city of Novi Sad. Petrovaradin Fortress also features a gourmet restaurant and is where the annual EXIT Music Festival takes place each summer. It is one of the largest and most popular music festivals in Europe.
The clock tower in the fortress has become an icon of sorts for the city. It has jokingly been referred to as the "drunk tower" because it is slow in the summer and fast in the winter. Another interesting feature about the clock tower is that unlike other clocks, the small hand counts the minutes and the big hand counts the hours. Make time to walk around the fortress - there are a handful of art galleries and shops to browse, plus you'll want to take in all the incredible views.
David's last stop on his tour of Novi Sad is the Museum of Vojvodina on Dunavska Street to learn about the history of the region from the Neolithic era until modern-day Novi Sad. Two of David's favorite exhibits were the intact golden Roman helmets and the 19th century traditional Serbian costume collection.

The main aim of this newly founded organization is to provide new technologies, resources, knowledge and financial stability in order to improve and strengthen the Cluster for Health Tourism of Vojvodina.
The common interest of local authorities, institutions, companies, medical establishments and NGOs is to promote production, innovation and to create new workplaces in the sphere of health tourism. In the recent years, contracts and agreements have been drafted and signed for business- and technical cooperation and support between concerned authorities, companies and institutions in Vojvodina. The cluster plays a significant role in realizing the Execution Plan for the development of health resorts and in the Marketing Strategy for the development of health tourism of Vojvodina and international cooperation with EU countries. One of the most important international contracts is the Euro-regional Agreement of Cooperation signed with Hungary and Romania, increasing the number of jobs available in the cluster and making it possible to enter the European Market. Further works on international standards "EUROSPA" have been confirmed. Euro-reagional Tourism Cluster has been established for reserving natural environment, paying special attention on initiation of new technologies and providing education for required experts.
At the end of 2009 the cluster was presented an international award -- "For Tourism of Pannonian Plain" -- by the Hungarian National Tourist Organization. It came as a result of successful cooperation between the cluster and other European countries. An International Protocol of Cooperation has been signed containing the following subjects: exchange of information; application of European programs in the development of health-, rural- and ecological tourism; improvement of tourism along rivers Tisa and Danube; accreditation of the international status of river Tisa; development of a river border crossing point between Szeged (Hungary) and Kanjiza (Serbia); participation in national and international tourism exhibitions in Budapest, Ljubljana and Belgrade.
A number of foreign presentations have been organized -- in Austria, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia -- with the purpose of promoting the Cluster for Health Tourism of Vojvodina. Today we have more than 50 members from 14 communities of Vojvodina and entering into a contract with other 11 communities is in progress. The untouched natural features and structure of Vojvodina is a great example of harmony between humans and nature. Hundreds of years of forgotten values -- works of art and architectural curiosities -- have been protected due to traditions. Unique building style, products and specialties of local manufacturers, skills passed from father to son, etno-houses -- all these features give tourists a supremely full vacation in Vojvodina.
