A man's hour long rampage in Sydney's northern beaches has ended with two police officers in hospital. A 41-year-old man allegedly rammed a stolen four-wheel-drive into the officers' car on Sunday afternoon after assaulting two men in Manly and Queenscliff.

At 12.10pm on Sunday the man allegedly assaulted a man at South Steyne in Manly before walking away. Police claim he then unsuccessfully attempted to steal a vehicle in a Queenscliff car park, just north of Manly, punching the owner of the car in the face.

By 1pm the man had allegedly stolen a white Jaguar 4WD from Moore Road in Freshwater.

Shortly after, the Jaguar hit a parked police car in which two police officers were sitting on Lawrence Street, police said.

Police followed the vehicle and tried to stop it on Albert Street.

The Jaguar stopped, but then reversed and rammed into the stationary police car, causing significant damage to the vehicle, police said.

The driver was arrested at the scene. During the arrest the two police officers were allegedly assaulted.

The police officers, both male, were taken to Manly Hospital for treatment with minor injuries. They have since been released.

The man has been charged with multiple offences including the assault of officers in execution of duty, common assault, driving while disqualified as well as four outstanding warrants.

He was refused bail and will appear at Manly Local Court on Monday.
