Police find 'human remains' near a roundabout off the M40 in Buckinghamshire

  • The busy slipway is not likely to be reopened until sometime tomorrow 

Police have recovered suspected human remains beside the M40 motorway forcing them to close a busy slip road. 

Thames Valley Police say they are investigating the discovery of what are believed to be human remains.

They were found by a police officer during a routine patrol by the A404 slip road near the Handycross roundabout at High Wycombe on Saturday at around a 1.40pm

Police found the suspected human remains at the scene yesterday afternoon 

The discovery was on ground beside a newly-built slip way leading from the M40 

Officers are at a very early stage in the investigation and are treating the death as unexplained.

The road is currently closed while police carry out an investigation into the death. It is likely that the road closure will remain in place until Monday. 

Forensic officers are examining the scene, although Thames Valley Police said the discovery is not connected with the ongoing missing person case of Ben Thomas who vanished from the Stokenchurch area. 

Ben, 15, has been missing since last Monday.
