Alfred Matthew "Weird Al" Yankovic (/ˈjæŋkəvɪk/ YANG-kə-vik; born October 23, 1959) is an American singer, songwriter, parodist, record producer, satirist, actor, music video director, film producer, and author. He is known for his humorous songs that make light of popular culture and often parody specific songs by contemporary musical acts, original songs that are style pastiches of the work of other acts, and polka medleys of several popular songs, featuring his favored instrument, the accordion.
Since his first-aired comedy song in 1976, he has sold more than 12 million albums (as of 2007), recorded more than 150 parody and original songs, and has performed more than 1,000 live shows. His works have earned him four Grammy Awards and a further 11 nominations, four gold records, and six platinum records in the United States. Weird Al's first top ten Billboard album (Straight Outta Lynwood) and single ("White & Nerdy") were both released in 2006, nearly three decades into his career. His latest album, Mandatory Fun (2014), became his first number-one album during its debut week.

Has interviews with his parents Nick and Mary (probably some of their last before they passed away 2 years later), his teachers, childhood friends, and others. Talks about how he was always smart beyond his years, took accordion lessons when he was 7, became interested in Dr. Demento and MAD Magazine in his early teens, and his time going to Lynwood High across the street from his house. His first ever parodies were sent into Demento's radio show in the mid 70s.
Then covers his time at Cal Poly and the groundbreaking variety radio show he did while on the air there in 1979 and 1980, which was disrupted when a new GM didn't like him and wanted soft rock (on college radio??) to be played instead.
During this time he recorded "My Bologna" and "Another One Rides the Bus" separately, and neither had much staying power at first, but eventually became his first self titled 1983 album, then after he parodied Michael Jackson on "Eat It" and came out with "In 3-D" he hit superstardom almost overnight.
Also highlights some struggles he and the band had in their early career, like opening for Missing Persons in 1982 and how the new wave crowd didn't take too well to them!
