From Downton Abbey to Sherlock Holmes' Baker Street flat, the TV show homes can often become as well-known as the characters who live in them.

Now research has revealed how much it would cost to own one of the iconic fictional properties.

A terraced home on Coronation Street would set you back just £100,000. On the other end of the scale is Buckingham Palace - as seen in Netflix series The Crown - which would cost an staggering £2.2billion, if it was ever put up for sale.

The research, carried out by mortgage experts from consumer group Which? also offers advice on the pros and cons of each property.

Here, FEMAIL reveals the cost of eight of the most famous TV homes...

SHERLOCK HOLMES

221B, Baker Street, London - £1.7 million

The beautiful two-bedroom property offers a large, airy sitting room lit by broad windows with an adjoining kitchen. 

However one wall partly indented with bullet holes would need repairing. The property would also require a deposit of 25 per cent, or £425,000.
