A fitness blogger has urged her followers to pay no attention to 'b****y scales' - after she put on 1kg (2 lbs) despite gaining a new slimline physique.

Fenella Scarlett McCall, 30, from Melbourne, says she put on muscle mass after 'consistently working out' for 17 months and has learned to 'never trust' her bathroom scales again.

She penned the message on Instagram alongside two pictures, taken two years apart, where she appears to have slimmed down her figure.

She told her 50,000 followers how boxing and weight lifting had led to her gaining 'plenty of muscle'.

Her post, in which she calls the scales 'manipulative little f***ers', has racked up more than 30,000 likes and hundreds of comments - prompting an outpouring of support from her followers.

In a recent interview with the Herald Sun, Fenella spoke about how she got into fitness while recovering from a heroin addiction she developed at 20.
