To make their soldiers a bit more prepared, a little stronger or mentally tougher, some nations’ armed forces have a drill or two that really seems over the top. In certain instances, observers can be left wondering why on earth anyone would voluntarily endure such a brutal practice. From regular forces to special units, these following military drills definitely qualify as brutal. Potentially causing physical or mental harm, some of these drills come potentially close to killing those involved. It’s all enough to make most of us appreciate our boring office job just that little bit more.

7. ET-MP Grenade
The United States hadn't used a concussion grenade (or a grenade that is designed to damage a target only using explosive power) since 1975 when the military decommissioned the MK3A2 because of an asbestos hazard. Starting in 2011, Picatinny Arsenal began developing the Enhanced Tactical Multi-Purpose grenade, a new age weapon that gives the user the option to use the explosive as either a concussion or a fragmentation device with just the flip of a switch. The weapon is also ambidextrous whereas current models require a special arming procedure for lefties. Though not currently in service, the plan is to transition the new grenades into action by 2020.
6. Mini Nuclear Reactors
The South China Morning Post stated in a recent report that the country is developing small nuclear reactors and are hopeful that they will be in use within the next five years. The Chinese military, who would presumably use the reactors to power military installments on remote islands, has partially funded the project. Called hedianbao, the units have some amazing capabilities. At 20 feet long and a little over eight feet tall the reactors are small enough to fit in a shipping container but don’t let their size fool you, they pack quite a punch. The hedianbao generate 10 megawatts of energy, which is enough to power 50,000 households without needing to be refueled for decades.
5. Lun-class Ekranoplan
This massive flying ship makes an indelible impression on anyone that sees it in person. The only version ever built was designed in the Soviet Union in the 1980’s and was used by the Soviet and later Russian navies from 1987 to the late 1990’s. This remarkable piece of machinery comes equipped with eight turbojet engines that each generate 28,600 lbf of thrust. The Lun is also combat ready with 6 Moskitcruise missiles, 4 of which are capable of sinking any vessel in existence. Today the craft sits unused and rusting at a naval base in Kaspiysk.
4. HELLADS
Putting lasers on things can be a difficult and sometimes impossible task. Dr. Evil wanted (frickin’) laser beams attached to the heads of his sharks and he never got his wish. Luckily it seems that the Air Force’s dreams of having lasers small enough to attach to their planes is only a difficult prospect, but not impossible. Military contractor General Atomics is developing powerful lasers that will be small enough to mount on fighter planes. The Air Force hope to have the lasers on military aircraft by 2020.
3. Invisibility Cloak
While we are unfortunately not a part of the world behind Platform 9 and ¾, British troops are doing their best to bring a small part of the world of Harry Potter into real life. During trials which took place in the United States, a battalion of British troops employed an advanced camouflage sheeting called Vatec. The remarkable sheet made the user undetectable, not only by the human eye but from infrared and heat-seeking devices as well. British soldiers were very impressed with the sheets after testing them and recommended that the military should buy the camouflage equipment.
2. Meshworm
Researchers from Harvard, MIT, and South Korea’s Seoul National University combined their considerable intelligence to come up with Meshworm, a penny-sized robot made entirely of synthetic fibrous material that mimics the movements and actions of an earthworm. While it’s capable of recording the temperature of a small room and audio, Meshworms indestructible nature is one of its most impressive attributes. When tested, the robot was capable of withstanding being stepped on and repeatedly pounded with a hammer, while still being able to crawl away completely unharmed. Researchers speculate that the shape-changing artificial muscles found in Meshworm will be utilized in cell phones and portable devices shortly.

Researchers are beyond excited about the substance, hailing it as the material that will lead to some of the greatest human achievements. Graphene Military Labs was recently created to research and apply graphene for military use. This research could lead to a new generation of lightweight batteries that charge in minutes and last much longer than current batteries. A patch of graphene could be designed to allow soldiers to know if an area is contaminated with even an acutely low amount of radiation. Researchers also hope to develop a touchpad that could be rolled up like a scroll using the wonder material.

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 (Pub.L. 113–12; H.R. 258) is a United States federal law that was passed by the 113th United States Congress. The law amends the federal criminal code to make it a crime for a person to fraudulently claim having received any of a series of particular military decorations and awards with the intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit from convincing someone that he or she rightfully did receive that award.
This law is a revised version of a previous one that was struck down by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case United States v. Alvarez for being an infringement of the constitutional right to freedom of speech.Provisions of the bill

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 amends the federal criminal code to rewrite provisions relating to fraudulent claims about military service to subject to a fine, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both for an individual who, with intent to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit, fraudulently holds himself or herself out to be a recipient of:
a Medal of Honor (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps)
a Distinguished Service Cross,
a Navy Cross,
an Air Force Cross,
a Silver Star,
a Purple Heart,
a Combat Infantryman's Badge,
a Combat Action Badge,
a Combat Medical Badge,
a Combat Action Ribbon,
a Combat Action Medal, or
any replacement or duplicate medal for such medal as authorized by law.

H.R. 258 makes changes to the current federal offenses relating to fraudulent claims about military service. As a result, the government might be able to pursue cases that it otherwise would not be able to prosecute. CBO expects that H.R. 258 would apply to a relatively small number of additional offenders, however, so any increase in costs for law enforcement, court proceedings, or prison operations would not be significant. Any such costs would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
Because those prosecuted and convicted under H.R. 258 could be subject to civil and criminal fines, the federal government might collect additional fines if the legislation is enacted. Civil and criminal fines are recorded as revenues. Criminal fines are deposited in the Crime Victims Fund and later spent. CBO expects that any additional revenues and direct spending would not be significant because relatively few cases would likely be affected.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled, <<NOTE: Stolen Valor Act
of 2013.>>
SECTION 1. <<NOTE: 18 USC 1 note.>> SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the ``Stolen Valor Act of 2013''.
SEC. 2. FRAUDULENT REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT RECEIPT OF MILITARY
DECORATIONS OR MEDALS.
(a) In General.--Section 704 of title 18, United States Code, is
amended--
(1) in subsection (a), by striking ``wears,''; and
(2) so that subsection (b) reads as follows:
``(b) Fraudulent Representations About Receipt of Military
Decorations or Medals. <<NOTE: Penalties.>> --Whoever, with intent to
obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit, fraudulently holds
oneself out to be a recipient of a decoration or medal described in
subsection (c)(2) or (d) shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not
more than one year, or both.''.
(b) Addition of Certain Other Medals.--Section 704(d) of title 18,
United States Code, is amended--
(1) by striking ``If a decoration'' and inserting the
following:
``(1) In general.--If a decoration'';
(2) by inserting ``a combat badge,'' after ``1129 of title
10,''; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
``(2) Combat badge defined.--In this subsection, the term
`combat badge' means a Combat Infantryman's Badge, Combat Action
Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Combat Action Ribbon, or Combat
Action Medal.''.

This was, as far as I can tell, the final iteration of the Bergmann pistols, developed by AEP in Liege for potential military contracts. It retains the locking system of the 1910 pattern pistol, but with a simplified disassembly method reminiscent of the C96 Mauser. The barrel was lengthened, the rear sight replaced with an adjustable leaf type, and the magazine capacity increased to 15.
This model appears to have been tested by the French in 1923, and probably by other nations as well. However, by this time the magazine-forward configuration was decidedly obsolete for a military sidearm, and no contracts were to be found.

Military
The military, also called the armed forces, are forces authorized to use deadly force, and weapons, to support the interests of the state and some or all of its citizens. The Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC was one of the defining points of Pharaoh Ramesses II's reign and is celebrated in bas-relief on his monuments. A thousand years later the first emperor of unified China, Qin Shi Huang, was so determined to impress the gods with his military might that he was buried with an army of terracotta soldiers. The Romans were dedicated to military matters, leaving to posterity many treatises and writings as well as a large number of lavishly carved triumphal arches and victory columns.

Stolen Valor: How the Vietnam Generation Was Robbed of Its Heroes and Its History is a self-published book by B.G. Burkett and Glenna Whitley which asserts both that there is a popular view of Vietnam War veterans as broken men and psychopaths and that this view is false. In addition the book purports to document "wannabes": people lying about Vietnam experience, often when they had never been there. B.G. Burkett is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War who served with the 199th Light Infantry Brigade as an ordnance officer and rifle platoon leader. Glenna Whitley is an investigative journalist who writes about crime and the legal system.

Air force
An air force, also known in some countries as an air army, is in the broadest sense, the national military organization that primarily conducts aerial warfare. More specifically, it is the branch of a nation's armed services that is responsible for aerial warfare as distinct from an army, navy, or a marine corps. Typically, air forces are responsible for gaining control of the air, carrying out strategic and tactical bombing missions, and providing support to land and naval forces.
The term "air force" may also refer to a tactical air force or numbered air force, which is an operational formation either within a national air force or comprising several air components from allied nations. Air forces typically consist of a combination of fighters, bombers, helicopters, transport planes and other aircraft.
Many air forces are also responsible for operations of the military space, intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), and communications equipment. Some air forces may command and control other air defence assets such as anti-aircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles, or anti-ballistic missile warning networks and defensive systems. Some nations, principally Russia, the former Soviet Union and countries who modelled their militaries along Soviet lines, have an air defence force which is organizationally separate from their air force.

Stolen Valor Act of 2005
The Stolen Valor Act of 2005, signed into law by President George W. Bush on December 20, 2006, was a U.S. law that broadened the provisions of previous U.S. law addressing the unauthorized wear, manufacture, or sale of any military decorations and medals. The law made it a federal misdemeanor to falsely represent oneself as having received any U.S. military decoration or medal. If convicted, defendants might have been imprisoned for up to six months, unless the decoration lied about is the Medal of Honor, in which case imprisonment could have been up to one year. In United States v. Alvarez the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on June 28, 2012, that the Stolen Valor Act was an unconstitutional abridgment of the freedom of speech under the First Amendment, striking down the law in a 6 to 3 decision.
Description
The Act was first introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on July 19, 2005, by Representative John Salazar, a Democrat from Colorado, as H.R. 3352. It was introduced in the Senate by Senator Kent Conrad, a Democrat from North Dakota, on November 10, 2005, as S. 1998. The Senate version was passed unanimously on September 7, 2006. The House passed the Senate version, S. 1998, on December 6, 2006.

Mini Nuclear Reactors The South China Morning Post stated in a recent report that the country is developing small nuclear reactors and are hopeful that they will be in use within the next five years. Researchers speculate that the shape-changing artificial muscles found in Meshworm will be utilized in cell phones and portable devices shortly. 1. Graphene It is the thinnest substance ever discovered at one atom thick, the lightest material known to man with one square meter weighing around three-quarters of a milligram, the strongest material on earth and the best conductor of both electricity and heat at room temperature. Researchers are beyond excited about the substance, hailing it as the material that will lead to some of the greatest human achievements. Graphene Military Labs was recently created to research and apply graphene for military use. This research could lead to a new generation of lightweight batteries that charge in minutes and last much longer than current batteries. A patch of graphene could be designed to allow soldiers to know if an area is contaminated with even an acutely low amount of radiation. Researchers also hope to develop a touchpad that could be rolled up like a scroll using the wonder material. -

This model appears to have been tested by the French in 1923, and probably by other nations as well. In certain instances, observers can be left wondering why on earth anyone would voluntarily endure such a brutal practice. From regular forces to special units, these following military drills definitely qualify as brutal. Potentially causing physical or mental harm, some of these drills come potentially close to killing those involved. It’s all enough to make most of us appreciate our boring office job just that little bit more.

7. ET-MP Grenade
The United States hadn't used a concussion grenade (or a grenade that is designed to damage a target only using explosive power) since 1975 when the military decommissioned the MK3A2 because of an asbestos hazard. Starting in 2011, Picatinny Arsenal began developing the Enhanced Tactical Multi-Purpose grenade, a new age weapon that gives the user the option to use the explosive as either a concussion or a fragmentation device with just the flip of a switch. The weapon is also ambidextrous whereas current models require a special arming procedure for lefties. Though not currently in service, the plan is to transition the new grenades into action by 2020.
6. Mini Nuclear Reactors
The South China Morning Post stated in a recent report that the country is developing small nuclear reactors and are hopeful that they will be in use within the next five years. The Chinese military, who would presumably use the reactors to power military installments on remote islands, has partially funded the project. Called hedianbao, the units have some amazing capabilities. At 20 feet long and a little over eight feet tall the reactors are small enough to fit in a shipping container but don’t let their size fool you, they pack quite a punch. The hedianbao generate 10 megawatts of energy, which is enough to power 50,000 households without needing to be refueled for decades.
5. Lun-class Ekranoplan
This massive flying ship makes an indelible impression on anyone that sees it in person. The only version ever built was designed in the Soviet Union in the 1980’s and was used by the Soviet and later Russian navies from 1987 to the late 1990’s. This remarkable piece of machinery comes equipped with eight turbojet engines that each generate 28,600 lbf of thrust. The Lun is also combat ready with 6 Moskitcruise missiles, 4 of which are capable of sinking any vessel in existence. Today the craft sits unused and rusting at a naval base in Kaspiysk.
4. HELLADS
Putting lasers on things can be a difficult and sometimes impossible task. Dr. Evil wanted (frickin’) laser beams attached to the heads of his sharks and he never got his wish. Luckily it seems that the Air Force’s dreams of having lasers small enough to attach to their planes is only a difficult prospect, but not impossible. Military contractor General Atomics is developing powerful lasers that will be small enough to mount on fighter planes. The Air Force hope to have the lasers on military aircraft by 2020.
3. Invisibility Cloak
While we are unfortunately not a part of the world behind Platform 9 and ¾, British troops are doing their best to bring a small part of the world of Harry Potter into real life. During trials which took place in the United States, a battalion of British troops employed an advanced camouflage sheeting called Vatec. The remarkable sheet made the user undetectable, not only by the human eye but from infrared and heat-seeking devices as well. British soldiers were very impressed with the sheets after testing them and recommended that the military should buy the camouflage equipment.

Researchers from Harvard, MIT, and South Korea’s Seoul National University combined their considerable intelligence to come up with Meshworm, a penny-sized robot made entirely of synthetic fibrous material that mimics the movements and actions of an earthworm. While it’s capable of recording the temperature of a small room and audio, Meshworms indestructible nature is one of its most impressive attributes. When tested, the robot was capable of withstanding being stepped on and repeatedly pounded with a hammer, while still being able to crawl away completely unharmed. Researchers speculate that the shape-changing artificial muscles found in Meshworm will be utilized in cell phones and portable devices shortly.

Any such costs would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
Because those prosecuted and convicted under H.R. 258 could be subject to civil and criminal fines, the federal government might collect additional fines if the legislation is enacted. Civil and criminal fines are recorded as revenues. Criminal fines are deposited in the Crime Victims Fund and later spent. obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit, fraudulently holds
oneself out to be a recipient of a decoration or medal described in
subsection (c)(2) or (d) shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not
more than one year, or both.''.
(b) Addition of Certain Other Medals.--Section 704(d) of title 18,
United States Code, is amended--
(1) by striking ``If a decoration'' and inserting the
following:
``(1) In general.--If a decoration'';
(2) by inserting ``a combat badge,'' after ``1129 of title
10,''; and
(3) by adding at the end the following:
``(2) Combat badge defined.--In this subsection, the term
`combat badge' means a Combat Infantryman's Badge, Combat Action
Badge, Combat Medical Badge, Combat Action Ribbon, or Combat
Action Medal.''.
