Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner 'convinced Donald Trump not to roll back LGBTQ protections in the workplace'
- Ivanka and Jared are believed to have fought in favor of LGBTQ measures
- A draft executive order calling to overturn them had been circulating
- But the White House said in a statement Tuesday it would keep the protections
- A report on Friday said Ivanka and Jared led the charge to keep the existing rules
- They were set up by Barack Obama in 2014 and protect LGBTQ federal workers
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner defended LGBTQ protections in the workplace against a draft executive order set to roll them back, a report said Friday.
A draft order had been circulating, outlining plans to overturn measures dating back to 2014, protecting federal workers from anti-LGBTQ discrimination.
The White House on Tuesday released a statement saying the protections, set by Barack Obama's administration, would remain in place.
Donald Trump's daughter and her husband, a senior adviser at the White House, led the charge against the draft executive order and in favor of the LGBTQ defenses, several sources told Politico.

Ivanka and Jared supported the statement issued by the White House Tuesday, in which President Trump vowed to maintain the measures, the website reported.
'The executive order signed in 2014, which protects employees from anti-LGBTQ workplace discrimination while working for federal contractors, will remain intact at the direction of President Donald J Trump,' the statement reads.
The message also said that Trump was 'determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community' and that he 'continues to be respectful and supportive of LGBTQ rights, just as he was throughout the election.'
White House officials told Politico the draft executive order outlining plans to roll back the LGBT protections was never going to be signed, saying it was one of 200 executive orders that were brought up during the transition.
'Some are real, some are drafts of things people like, and some are ideas people from outside have suggested,' an official told the website.
Obama's executive order 11478 dates back to July 2014. It prevents federal contractors from discriminating based on a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.
The order also added on to existing measures for federal employees, who were already protected against discrimination against sexual orientation. It ensured they couldn't be discriminated against based on their gender identity as well.
