Several of a little girl's braids were ripped off of her head in a freak accident while she was playing volleyball.

Six-year-old Ariel Glover was in gym class at her elementary school in Covington, Georgia last Friday when her hair was pulled from her head.

Now, she had a bald patch that she covers with other braids.

Several braids were yanked out of Ariel Glover's head when she jumped during gym class

The little girl told the Atlanta Journal Constitution: 'My hair got caught in the net and I didn’t realize it until I jumped for the ball.'

Her mother is taking her to a hair specialist to find out the extent of the damage. There is a chance it will not grow back.

Ariel's mother Britney Baker said: 'If it’s permanent nerve damage, then her hair will not return.'

Baker thinks the P.E. teacher should have sent her daughter to the nurse immediately.

She told WSB-TV: 'It took her 30 minutes for her home teacher to come in and get her and notice the severity of her injuries and say, "No you should have followed protocol and taken her to the nurse when it happened,"'

A spokesperson told the station Ariel was given ice and she was taken to the nurse immediately.

Baker also thinks the fact that the basketball pole the net was tied to was fixed is a safety hazard because children can't break away in case of an emergency.
