It has become known for its unusual – and expensive – lifestyle advice.
And Gwyneth Paltrow’s blog Goop was offering readers another bizarre tip yesterday – ritualistic bra burning to get over an ex.
Relationship expert Suzannah Galland wrote an article entitled ‘Getting Rid of Old Lovers – and Why It’s Time to Toss Your Bras’.
She claims that ‘our underwear chronicles our lives’, and when a partnership ends, the best thing to do is dispose of the ‘lacy leftovers’.
And while the sentiment seems reasonable, the method is more extreme, as the author’s step-by-step guide reveals.
First, Miss Galland instructs readers to ‘find a safe place where you can light a fire’ and ‘invite a few close friends to join you’.
‘Before you start, you might want to write out a few words, or recite a prayer to help release and forgive,’ she adds.
The bra burner must then toss her unwanted undergarments onto the fire one piece at a time, watching ‘intently as the pieces burn’.
Miss Galland writes: ‘Full-moon fire rituals are ancient practices for spiritual cleansing, representing a time to get rid of the old and celebrate what’s next. They can help you release distrust, and in turn, open the space to invite new love into your life.’

Miss Paltrow, 44, recently told how she was more focused on Goop than her acting career.
The mother of two, who announced her ‘conscious uncoupling’ from her musician ex-husband Chris Martin via the website, said working on Goop’s weekly newsletter had left her feeling ‘professionally fulfilled’.
The site’s eye-catching recommendations in the past have included a gold-plated £10,000 sex toy, a book by a Buddhist monk praised for its ‘ability to demystify mindfulness’, and ‘bee venom therapy’ in which you allow bees to sting you to help heal injuries.
