He's the American sitcom star who was widely promoted ahead of his appearance on I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! 

And despite Tom Arnold using his time in the jungle to nap, Confidential has reported the former Rosanne star is being paid $40,000 a week, meaning he could take home up $250,000 for his appearance. 

The revelation comes as the 57-year-old fails to strike a chord with viewers, with fans calling for Tom to be booted for being a 'grumpy old man'.

Celebrities on the Channel Ten show can earn between $30,000 to $60,000 a week, the publication reported. 

Media Analyst Steve Allen told The Daily Telegraph that Tom's $40,000 price tag was not good value for the network. 

'Tom could easily be the star but clearly he  seems to think it is beneath him,' he said.

The comedian's lack of animation lies in stark contrast to another sitcom star who made headlines on the first season of I'm A Celebrity.

The Brady Bunch's Maureen McCormick proved a welcome addition to the jungle in 2015, enthusiastically taking part in challenges and camp discussions.

On Thursday night, Tom made his first stab at participation, surrounding himself with snakes for a tucker trial.

 His lack of movement has seen fans on Twitter label blast him for not taking part in camp fun alongside other celebrities. 

'Leave the jungle Tom Arnold...grumpy old man,' one viewer tweeted. 

'Tom Arnold had better get a LOT more interesting REAL soon,' another fan wrote. 

On Wednesday, Tom told host Chris Brown he was finding his time in the jungle 'horrible' and had previously thought the camp's challenges were staged.
