JONATHAN McEVOY: Whether it is meant as such or not, Formula One's extraordinary squabbling over qualifying is a PR masterstroke. I know that conventional wisdom is that the sport is making itself look ridiculous by a) tinkering with a previous format that worked well; b) rushing a new system through at too much speed and without adequate thought; c) pigheadedly sticking with it for Bahrain in the face of overwhelming evidence that it was a flop on its debut in Australia; d) holding a series of votes and meetings at which the disputatious nature of Formula One's factions are laid bare as totally dysfunctional.
