The Aussie-made Holden Commodore has one last mission before it is stripped of its command.

Holden has released details of its 2017 update Holden Commodore, hot on the heels of the 2017 HSV range.

The locally-built large car line-up has been streamlined with the removal of SS-V and Calais Sportwagon models.

Lower-grade manual options have also walked the plank, with the manual gearbox reserved for V8-powered variants.

Holden has also added some gear to most of the range with the stock Calais now scoring navigation as standard and the more premium Calais V gaining new 19-inch alloy wheels, jet black interior, Calais lettering on the doors, new V sill plates and an SS-V Redline steering wheel.

Pricing starts at $42,540 (plus on-road costs) for the Calais sedan - a price rise of $1250 - and $48,750 for the V6-powered Calais V and $56,750 for the V8-powered variant, a minor price hike of $760 for both.

Commodore SV6 variants gain a head-up display, navigation and black accented 18-inch alloy wheels. Now only available with an automatic transmission prices kick off at $37,190 for the ute, $40,490 for the sedan and $42,490 for the Sportwagon, an increase of $1000.

SS versions now get a head-up display, navigation and 19-inch alloys as standard.

Priced from $47,490 for the manual sedan and $43,990 in ute guise, a jump of $2500, while an automatic transmission adds another $2200. The Sportwagon variant is priced from $51,690 and is auto only.

Holden's most performance focused model, the SS-V Redline, scores a black grille, fender vents, mirror tops and DRL surrounds, new V sill plates and a black finish on the instrument panel and steering wheel. Sedan version get a black lip spoiler while the ute variants score a black sports bar.

The sedan SS-V Redline is priced from $54,990, the same as the 2016 model. While SS-V Redline ute also cost $1500 more at $52,490. An automatic transmission adds $2200.

The auto-only $59,190 Sportwagon also costs $1500 more.

The luxury-focused Caprice V now costs $61,490, a price increase of just $500, while gaining an SS-V Redline steering wheel.

Three new exterior colours have been added to Holden's palate; spitfire green, light my fire (orange) and son of a gun grey, each costing $550.

Holden has warned potential buyers that after March orders are subject to availability as production winds down.
