Police officer hit by stolen car during chase north of Brisbane

A man has been charged after a police officer was hit by a stolen car during a four-hour chase across five suburbs north of Brisbane on Friday.

It will be alleged about 11.45am police began following a stolen Audi in Deception Bay and continued to track the vehicle through Rothwell, Narangba and Redcliffe Peninsula.

Police said whilst trying to evade officers in Deception Bay, the man drove a stolen Hyundai Excel at an officer, hitting him in the leg.

The police officer received minor injuries and was treated by the Queensland Ambulance Service at Redcliffe Police Station.

The man was arrested at a train station in Kippa Ring about 3pm, with both stolen vehicles seized.

A 31-year-old Burpengary man has been charged with a total of 21 offences including burglary, possessing a dangerous drug, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and serious assault. He will appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigations are continuing.
