Holden looks to stay competitive in the booming baby SUV segment with its updated Trax.

The Lion brand has extended the model lineup to include a mid-tier LT variant, joining the entry-level LS and range-topping LTZ, while also tweaking the front and rear styling.

Pricing for the LS remains the same with entry to the Trax range starting from $23,990 before on-road costs for the manual and $26,490 when equipped with an automatic transmission.

The manual version of the LS remains powered by the old 1.8-litre petrol engine.

However, the automatic LS is powered by the same 103kW/200Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine as found in the current LTZ Trax. The LS is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with power delivered to the front wheels.

The LS comes equipped with daytime running lights, 16-inch alloys, rear park assist, rear view camera, leather steering whee  and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The auto variant scores some new front and rear disc brakes.

Stepping in to the mid-range LT will cost $28,890, while also gaining 18-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, fog lamps, keyless entry and push button start and digital radio over the base LS.

While the top-of-the-range LTZ scores leather appointed seats, heated front seats and rain sensing wipers, while also gaining LED taillights, indicators on the side mirrors, new 3.5-inch digital instrument display, blindspot alert and rear cross traffic alert.

Both the LT and LTZ have the same engine and transmission set up as the automatic LS.

The 2017 Holden Trax is now on sale nationally.
