German brand expands its SUV range with new edgy city-sized SUV.

Styling showcases a new direction for Audi with its sharp edges, low roofline with an integrated spoiler, contrasting C-pillar blades and an octagonal version of Audi's single frame grille.

Headlining the range at first will be a limited-run Q2 Launch Edition model in exclusive quantum grey paint with S-Line exterior styling, plus 19-inch alloy wheels, a black/manhattan grey interior and powered by the 110kW/250Nm 1.4-litre four-cylinder TFSI petrol engine.

Priced from $49,900 the Audi Q2 Launch Edition also boasts a comprehensive list of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, active lane and side assist.

The regular range kicks-off with the front-wheel drive Q2 Design 1.4 TFSI S-tronic, priced at $41,100. Standard equipment is impressive - leather seats, MMI navigation, autonomous emergency braking, rear-view camera, Bluetooth and smartphone interface, voice control, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning and the Audi Parking System Plus.

Audi Connect, which includes a Wi-Fi hotspot, Google Earth and Google Search functionality, will be included across the range.

The Q2 will come with a decent suite of safety equipment including rear cross-traffic alert, active lane assist, lane-keeping assistant and lane-departure warning.

Diesel power comes in the form of the all-wheel-drive Audi Q2 Sport quattro with the 110kW/240Nm 2.0 TDI engine which is priced from $47,900. Extra standard features include sports seats, electric tailgate and the added safety of Audi Side Assist.

"The highly anticipated all-new Audi Q2 will establish itself as a unique offering in the premium compact SUV segment," revealed Audi Australia boss Andrew Doyle. "It will open up the Audi brand to a new range of young and young-at-heart buyers."

"This new model will exceed customer expectations of how an Audi should look, thanks to its polygonal design language, and what it should offer, thanks to a suite of infotainment and connectivity technologies," Mr Doyle added.
