Premier's return delayed by urgent organ retrieval

"Organ retrievals are the priority for the use of the government aircraft," a spokesman for the premier said.

The Queensland Government Air Wing can be tasked across Australia and New Zealand to collect organs from the donor list for lifesaving surgery.

The Air Wing is based at the Brisbane Airport and provides transport for the premier, ministers and other staff.

The premier has instead booked a commercial flight back to Brisbane from Gladstone on Friday morning.

Ms Palaszczuk will return to Brisbane in time to make a major announcement with the Springfield Land Corporation and receive a briefing on the Queensland Rail inquiry from Commissioner Phillip Strachan.

The report is due to be released publicly after being discussed in cabinet on Monday.

Ms Palaszczuk said the week in central Queensland had been a success, announcing up to 782 new jobs with councils and government-owned corporations, including an expansion the Capricornia Correctional Centre.
